Its time again for the 5th Annual "Only Watch" charity auction hosted by the Principality of Monaco benefiting research for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The Only Watch will take place on September 28th in Monaco and will be conducted by the watch auctioneers, Antiquorum. Thirty eight of the world’s leading watch manufactures will each donate a unique timepiece specially created for the occasion. The proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Monegasque Association against Muscular Dystrophy.
Montblanc joined the auction four years ago and a fellow Purist even placed the highest bid for Montblanc's inaugural 2009 Only Watch!
This year, Montblanc donated a piece unique of its Rising Hours. What do you all think?

Check it out...looks like the case has the Dual Carbon Coating which has held out extremely well on my version of the Sport Chronograph.
All 38 watches can be seen in a travelling show:
From September 6th, an international exhibit of the Only Watch collection of timepieces for men and women will travel the world: Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, New York, Geneva (complementary information on www.onlywatch.com from April 1st) and will be concluded by a presentation during the Monaco Yacht Show (September 25th to 28th). The auction will take place on September 28th at 11 a.m. (GMT+1) in the “Salle Belle Epoque” of the Hôtel Hermitage.
Enjoy and good bidding for an excellent cause,
Mike
I think the data point will be slightly off given the fact that it is a charity event held in Monaco.
A few years ago the Villeret Piece Unique was won for 30,000 Euros...

Ratio wise, I think this Rising Hours will do better. Either way the money will go to a good cause.
Happy bidding to everyone,
Mike
but it does look interesting.
Just like the Montblanc special Rieussec that was created and auctioned by Emirates Airlines.
Black and gold... a popular theme.
Cheers, Mike

You really can't offend Royalty by donating a piece unique offered to his auction and personal focus and then releasing the same out to the general public ...especially when Prince Albert is a guest speaker at special Monblanc events

And when you have a special collection dedicated and named after his mother

Cheers, Mike
and dropped off some soft shell lobsters
See you soon,
Mike

It is a "dual carbon" process where the metal gets a treatment first before the actual DLC coating. You can see this step as the "hard treatment" on the chart below.

I guess it would still be possible to get it done on a special individualized process but I suspect that it would be expensive.
BTW, I like your blackout VC Overseas....now that should be a production piece.
Best, Mike
Are other brands using a DLC process like this one? Is there a difference in the Dual Carbon process vs. a regular DLC process?
BTW, I like the blacked out Overseas as well!
