. . . get started, folks! What are our targets for 2016, plus, what are we wearing today?
2015 brought three Seikos and three Omegas (one of which was a total surprise!) to my collection, which is now past the two dozen mark. Any new addition has to be a keeper; I'm not one to endlessly accumulate, nor (with a few exceptions) do I feel like disposing of any currently in the collection. My preferences, as most of you know, are narrow: modern Glashütte Original, vintage and modern Seiko, and vintage Omega.
With six Seikos under my belt, I'm feeling full; no need to add another, even though the lure of vintage GS is tempting. Seiko is most likely closed off to future additions unless it's a net zero acquisition, with one current stablemate outgoing. Seiko '16 roster: nil.
There's one Glashütte Original that stills pulls at my heartstrings, even though I've never seen one precisely like it in the metal.
This limited edition Karree cal 49,
ca '04, has been a fixation since it was released. I could've bought one then, but was distracted by a Senator perpetual that precluded its acquisition. Now, of course, they're long gone, and I never see them on the secondary market. If one should appear, and the wherewithal is there, this is the one G O that would complete my collection.
Vintage Omega is a devilish problem: there's so much to love, yet so little room to expand. Over the years, my focus has narrowed to chronometers from their Golden Age in the post-War era. I've already snared manual winding snap-back chronometer references 2364 and 2365, so my target now is a reference 2410 screw-back. Needless to say, they're difficult to find. Even more desirable than a 2410, though, would be a ref 2518 Seamaster chronometer . . .

. . . which would neatly round out my collection. I could call it quits with this one and a 2410.
Watch
du jour? Ω ref 2242 . . .
. . . acquired this past summer on account of its uncommon 18 jewel 30T2SC movement.
Looking forward to your wish-lists for the upcoming year, as well as your New Year's Eve wrist wear.
