I have heard several people express fondness for the Bulgari Octo Watch, even people who are not fans of Bulgari watches to begin with. When I first saw the watch live while sipping a spritzer outdoor on a warm summer night in Rome, I remember thinking what an intelligently designed watch it was. A watch that looked just as beautiful photographed as it did in person, (well...almost), I envied my partner for the trip for being the one who could wear it better.

Bulgari Octo - Leather Strap or Metal Band?
It has now been a year since then and there is little doubt in my mind that Bulgari has sold a ton of them. And that will only be helped along by their recent release of the metal bracelet version of the watch. From what I have heard so far, even men who are accustomed to wearing straps and prefer them are having a lot of good things to say about the metal bracelet - the look, comfort and durability.
Without a doubt they each have their own unique characteristics and their own audiences but....
Which version, the strap or bracelet, do you prefer and why?
It is one of the rare cases for which I prefer the metal band.

Make them interchangeable to suit different occasions like the Panerai crowd do.
This one is a very difficult choice because the metal bracelet design is awesome
I'm always a strap guy, so my preference off the start is already biased. However, I'm having a difficult time picking which one I like better because the design of the metal bracelet is superb. I've worn the bracelet Octo on the wrist for several days and it's extremely comfortable and balanced.
I would buy the bracelet version and then buy the leather strap so I have both. Sorry I didn't pick either one or the other. This is the rare case where I would want both!

indeed tough choice as I am a leather strap person, but this is the rare occassion where the bracelet look just goes so well with the overall high tech metal structural/industrial look of the watch

There is nothing to add to Anthonys statement! But for this case I would buy the watch with bracelet and the leather strap seperately. I've heared a MSRP for the bracelet and was fainting

Yup it's usually always cheaper to buy the bracelet version
and then separately buy the leather strap afterwards. Save you couple hundred dollars most of the time.

Apart from choosing both, a forced Bulgari Octo winner is the..
........ leather strap for that Roman elegant feeling.

The metal bracelet is pretty good for those warm humid days but gives a more machismo look and may be bulky.
If getting both, it is best to buy the bracelet version and get the leather strap as a cheaper accessory.

I'm a bracelet guy...
and with such an original bracelet design, it is hard to say no. However, the Octo looks really great on leather. Ping, you have us in a no win situation here.

I like the bracelet
Even though I only own watches with leather straps and prefer them for the most part but the Octo is an exception. I would certainly get both to have the option.
Something I never understand
I never understand why many brands go to such lengths to make a watch waterproof and then put a croc strap on it. Even divers from some brand have straps that would clearly not handle water so well. These beautiful Octo's are water resistant to 100m, so the stunning bracelet would be perfect, but yes, it would be good to have it interchangeable with a black croc as the Octo is, in my opinion, also a perfect dress watch. One of the few watches that can be both a sporty tool watch and dress watch at the same time.

I find almost every watch that is hex (ish) shaped... to look too much like an AP when you choose strap option. (Not tanks, of course, but ya know...)

(For example, even GO's Seventies has hopped on the bandwagon with strap choices, emphasizing the AP-look, IMO)
AP is so influential, a collector needs to be aware how similar a Genta-inspired design can look if you dress it up in a similar manner to an AP.
As I said in an earlier post, Bulgari impresses greatly with how they made this design truly their own. But still....
I would not risk the AP-effect of adding straps to this design.
The bracelet emphasizes the Bulgari-Italian ultra-suave very masculine design, and stakes its own claim on design.

Nice watches
The fact that each one is unique and has an appropriate time and place, in the morning and evening
But for me, I'm really into the metal band because for the brand Bulgari the band itself is designed in distinctive to the case of the watch itself which make the body of the watch revolve around the wrist easily and comfortably.
