Spotted: 50 Shades of Red!
What car guy could resist a hook and ladder truck parked at the curb, open, and no firemen in sight? With a pumper sitting behind it?

Maybe they'd all gone out to lunch ...

Or they were in a meeting, or washing the floor in the firehouse? Anyway, we had a good poke around and decided to make RED the theme of today's car spotting. I'll hold the rest for tomorrow.

This 4x4 Chevy truck was decked out with a power dome hood and brutal black flat bed

I like the sledge hammers, chained to the load bar behind the cab

Here's another Land Cruiser, looking good, with the Electric Fiat Car-Spotting Mobile right behind.
NOTE: Some people have wondered how we get any exercise by driving around taking pictures ... it's simple. We use up electricity by cruising quietly around, then we park at the free charging station and walk the 1-2 miles home (depending on route) then walk back in 2 hours to get a fully charged car for the next day's photos ... along with exertion we get some mental stimulation, good visual acuity and scanning exercise. And gain a few miles against the impossible-to-reach target of miles on our leased Fiat.

This 911 Targa was all the same shade of red when new but has faded irregularly, is cracking, peeling and so sadly declining
Same thing with this 911
It's sadly declining.

I am sure this VW Rabbit (Golf) is one of the earliest in the USA and it was red when sold

Or it was the tomato soup orange (close enough)

A Twin I Beam, Two Tone Ford F150 in red and white

This Saab Sonnet has seen better days too. I had one of these once ... I wonder if this is the one I owned??

Did anyone else have one of these V4 FWD "sports" cars?

Now for something special. We had to reach into the garage with our long lens to get this woodie

but we found this 69 "Big Red" truck on our way home from the charging point.

It's inconceivable that this Dodge Viper is almost 25 years old!!
PS - my favorite red car - my 1966 Olds 442, with a younger self and an unknown watch. Not exactly spotted today, but let's say 35 years ago. Notice my Jeepster(s) in the background of one shot?

THE END
