Spotted: between storms

The SoCal air always looks so nice between rains, and today I was able to get out for an hour or so between rain showers. We are looking for a couple of inches tomorrow and Monday - at this rate we will have a year's rainfall in January.

This is a newish Dodge station wagon. It's definitely styled as a hot rod and no competition to the soccer mom minivans.

This bright red with chrome wheels really appeals to me

I have seen this Riviera before but never without its cloth cover on. I guess the rain encouraged the owner to take off the cover and let it dry out a bit

And here's a very appealing Seventies Cadillac.

In much better shape than most which have been exposed to our sun and salt air.

Like this Coupe de Ville of the same age

A rare Ford Torino (mid-size) station wagon

I think this is a Mercury, but I was actually on my way to inspect another Riviera

Here's the Riv - a bit worse than the white one

Even though it's mostly here, this is a car you probably couldn't afford to restore

I've never noticed this early 50's Pontiac - it's on a main street but it's narrow and the traffic is usually moving swiftly along. Today I had time to linger for two photos

Post-rain surf. Tonight we are expecting up to 16 foot swells and 35 mph winds - which will definitely blow the surf over the pier

The birds seem to be liking the winds

Typical Californians can't wait to get out walking, running, cycling and convertibling!

I got a glimpse of this car coming out of an alley and chased him 3 blocks to get these photos. The Firebird's nose wasn't nice enough to chase further to snap it.

A serious Dodge truck that has worked for its living

Or so it seemed to me

I turned into this 3-block dead end street and found 3 Mustangs.

I turned around and saw them again

Here we have an early Suburban which is carrying a baby seat in the back. This isn't the most reliable of child carriers, in my opinion, but why not let the child have some fun, eh?

One more Mustang (you've seen it before)

This one is a repeat as well.

And an update on the restoration progess of this 1958 Chevy Pickup. The first time it had Texas plates and bad paint. The second time it had nice paint and no wheels. Now it has wheels and Calif plates.

Oops, the rain has come back.

But not hard enough to keep me from catching this blue pickup

And this yellow sedan delivery

My wife is on her way to a family event, and phoned in these spottings:

Thanks for looking!

Should I be expecting a run of good luck today?
