Image / brand and resale value. While I really could not care less about the badge on the car many do and the Porsche coat of arms has more cachet in more places than the intertwined flags of the Corvette and used Porsches (again depending on model and where you are) would hold value somewhat better, making them a financially sound proposition 😊
And they tend to be quite robust when subjected to spirited driving (including track use).
In my previous life we frequently had customer driving events and you could rely on the 911s to survive weeks of abuse, while many others (Audi R8s and RSs amongst others) tended to bow out after a day or so with some mechanical gremlin or other. Mind you, the Nissan GT-Rs and Renaultsport cars were solid as well 👍🏻

Last weekend I got together with a friend, a professional racer over many years and development driver for a prestigious car company. 

Sadly the SUVs of Porsche are not nearly as durable under stress. Had a 24 event with them and not a single one managed to survive it without quite some mechanical pain 🤷🏻‍♂️

Last week I ended up with a Macan “T” for two days. 

Although calling the stronger one Turbo is a bit weird 😉

You just have to be careful on the epic options list 🫣

The access to spareparts and the time it takes get them would be one of the benefits of the higher volumes by Porsche. Would be more of an issue with rare birds.

The ones in question were pure petrol ones 😉

No excuses then. Belive both X5, XC90 and Panameras at least are more of a risk in hybrid iterations. Hybrid/EV isn`t really my cup of tea anyway

The Macan 4S Electric would be the right balance.

When I did the Roger Dubuis X Lamborghini race track drive in Las Vegas, it was hosted by a company in Las Vegas that sold $400 packages for a "four-lap package" on the race track - so they have dozens of cars and they serve thousands of tourists each year. I asked the driving instructors what cars have the most problems since they have extensive experience. They said don't buy an Aston Martin, don't buy a McLaren, the Ferrari is pretty bad but not quite as bad as the McLaren, and that the Lamborghini Huracan and the Porsches were their most reliable cars. I don't think they mentioned if they had an Audi R8 or not, but considering the R8 has similar "bones" as the Lamborghini Huracan - this surprises me. I later found out of the Lamborghini Huracans they use - which is also a rental car in the off-season, had 150,000+ miles on it and was all original transmission, engine, differential, etc. Which shocked me. Since rental cars are probably abused.

I've found a mix of experiences within different car clubs. While some, such as the BMW and Lotus Car Clubs (which are not brand exclusive), offer a welcoming environment with a focus on safety and driver education, others have a different dynamic. For example, while the Porsche Car Club of America (which is brand exclusive) hosts exciting racing events, my interactions have varied. Some PCA members are passionate drivers with a shallow to deep knowledge of their cars (but all of them think they have a deep knowledge), while others prioritize social aspects; really generating two very divisive camps - at least in my region.

Belive that`s the nature of mankind I`m afraid. Homogenous groups aren`t always that homogenous, and there will always be a wide spectrum of approaches and weight applied. Somewhere in the middle it balances out, and if the middle is strong enough there will be space for most.
Would argue WatchProSite is something of it`s own in how well it handles their spectrum. Pleasant.

Really have to rethink your braking points since you'll be carrying so much more speed. I'd have to brake at the "5" sign when I normally brake at the "2" or "3" sign.

But why would you possibly need 1000 HP on public roads? 

In Europe, maybe you can use some of the 1000 hp?  In America....  On public roads?  With the low speed limits in America...  Definitely nobody needs 1000 hp.  EXCEPT to be able to say at the dinner table - my engine is bigger than yours - not that I'm able to go any faster since we're all being watched by the Constable and speed cameras.

Does this mean the Brits are more pragmatic than the Americans?  Or does it mean the Brits don't want the Baddies/Criminals to have powerful cars - since they're the ones likely to abuse and exploit the power of those cars?  Or both?
