Looks like an unforgettable experience to me. Very nice pics.
Thanks.

Marcus,
My poor experience of off-road driving being only the Suzuki Jeep (Rhino in UK but a.k.a. Jimmy in USA) notwithstanding, I enjoyed your missive. Mine was mainly for driving to shoots with my green 'wellies', Barbour jackets and tweed flat caps....aahh those were the days...when Margaret Thatcher was truly made of iron and we all had loadsa money!
1) Don't you think TWO GPS navigation units was overkill? Especially with Rottweiller tour guide.
2) Did the dogs lean to one side when you did the 45 degree traverses?
Ahhh....I see the canines sensibly sat outside and watched the silly humans play in the sand!
Regards,
MTF
PS. I rolled Suzie Jeep in the snow on the Snake Pass in the Pennines (3 a.m. on a Monday) as the last vehicle they let through the checkpoint during a snow storm, after they closed the road behind me. It slid on its roof down the slope towards a 300 foot drop and at the last moment rolled back on 4 wheels pointing in the right direction for me to drive home. Bull bars intact but fog lights and pride bent........sh-1-t stains in my drawers!
I was returning from a weekend tryst in Wales with the then girlfriend....now the current Mrs MTF. Rushing back to Sheffield to be in time for my anesthesia list for surgery at 08:00 on Monday morning. I almost put myself in sleepy-bye land forever.

I don't think the full story was revealed until much later. It happened about the time of mass hysteria ....er...mass media hype about Suzuki Rhinos turning over easily. I did not want her to say, "I told you so...."
I don't think they actually were that easy to turn over. Most likely, human error and sleepiness contributed to excess speed for the situation (snow drifts, downhill, bend in road).
The miracle was the 360 degree roll-over so the vehicle righted itself back onto wheels so no free-fall over the road edge. Not a scratch on the roof paintwork either, after being essentially an early form of 'snowboard'
Whew,
MTF
