The first picture below shows the original BMW 3.0 CSL on the right.  Look at the amazing transformation of the Hommage on the left.  It sure oozes sportiness and futuristic design!

What do you guys think of the new BMW 3.0 CSL Hommage?  I think it's going to be a fabulous car when it comes out!

I am a fan of the BMWs from the 1980s and then the 8 series and the Z8 in the 1990s, its nice to see BMW trying to get back to what made it special, hope the production version (if there is one) retains many of the design highlights of this "Hommage".

It's an interesting look, but it's not entirely beautiful.  There's something Dracula-ish about the front (the deep kidney grill looks like rodent teeth), but the yellow color is another weird choice. 

Will they produce this car for the public? 

And I'd just like something normal, an E92 BMW M3 (the one with the V8) with the performance package.  That's just an amazing great car. 

I like the reintroductions of special cars like this.

There's something of the rodentia order this car's front seems to be inspired from. 

In yellow it makes me think of a yellow hamster. 

but generally a show car should polarise, i just hope they change their mind and build it even as a limited run!

I completely agree that a showcar should polarise...otherwise, we'd see stagnation. What actually makes it into production is a separate matter

My problem with this kind of car is that it is supposed to be a 'Homage" to the glorious CSL.

The original CSL was created after BMW CS (a beautiful but heavy car for a racer) got soundly beaten by the Capris in the ETC, so BMW poached Neerspasch from Ford, started up the Motorport division, built the lightweight CSL...and got revenge.

So, aside from some styling cues, how is this a homage to that endeavour? (I am only being slighty serious here )

Out of it: long overhang, searüting position too high, handling quite slow.
Even mine with coilover and 16 inches does not feel too alive.

And to get back to your reaction, you are no stranger to the business so you know that often show car is just ... Show business ;-)
