then is anyone aware of a watch around 37/38 mm and not too thick with the perpetual calendar?

Most, if not all of the watch companies covered by a forum on this site make at least one perpetual calendar.
It would be best to let us know your budget and case metal preferences (precious metal or steel? If precious metal, then gold vs. platinum? If gold, then yellow, rose or white gold?).

Ideally I would go for rose gold if not then steel. I don't really have a specific budget, it would really depend on the watch. I will defo not have enough savings for the 5140P for ex even if I love it.
Top of the top would be a thin watch with a blue dial. I looked at the JLC but they seem quite big in size and thickness...

The JLC MUT Perpetual is 39 mm, so slightly larger than your desired range, but it is fairly thin on the wrist. Terrific value for what you get given other watch makers' offerings at JLC's end of the spectrum. That's the piece that jumps quickly to mind.

Master Perpetual, in platinum, with a blue dial. 37 mm. At a very good price for what it is.

Could also, of course, buy a discontinued model (e.g., Patek 3940).

it will be a bit too exp for me so far...
I currently have a montblanc 39mm and it's a little big on my wrist (my wrist is 16 cm)
the JLC seems great I will definitely have a try in the old bond street shop

The Perpetual Calendar (the most expensive of date display among the 3 types available): it recognizes the 30 or 31 but also the february 28 or 29.

The Annual Calendar created by Patek Philippe 20 years ago (20th anniversary this year with the launch of a new version of the 5396 reference): it recognizes the 30 and 31 and you have to set your watch for the Febuary/March switch. This one is much less expensive than the Perpetual Calendar and offers a very practical feature too.


You can have a look at the Patek catalogue in the "Complication" segment: 5146, 5205 or 5396 for the Annual Calendar only.

If you have more budget, I suggest you go for a 5960 (second hand, fantastic value for money and exceptional finishing and decoration, dial side or movement side) or the new 5905P.

You will find with these watches a great movement development and splendid dial and movement decoration.

Depending on your budget, have a close look at the movement finishing and decoration and look closely at the dial (markers, windows frame, overall refinement) or the case work to take your decision. Patek, in that field is a great value for money in terms of watchmaking.

As mentionned above, the second market is a very interesting choice to get a Perpetual Calendar for instance (3940, 5140).

I love the 5140 especially in blue dial I tried it in central london, but it's way too expensive for me... even in second market though
I had a look at the 6000G in blue dial, would this one not do the diff between 30 and 31 ? I don't mind manually changing for 28/29 feb

every month you need to manually adjust the date

However, 6000 costs much less than an annual calendar watch

It is a normal date display. I tried this 6000G blue and it is a stunner indeed

Try to have a look at the second-hand Annual Calendar I mentionned (or the previous generations, the 5035 which can be in your budget), you may perhaps find something more in your budget.

Sound like what you want is a 5035R.

My only problem with their perpetuals is that the date is on a dial with a hand indication which I find too small to read. My personal preference is a Patek annual calendar with a date window.
