while checking in a hotel at the counter, I heard a little disagreement of a guest over charges of 10 euros/day for 3 days over wifi, because he did not provide his email to get free wifi.
I turned and saw this shiny piece on his wrist...5271P.
I don't blame him, if it's miscommunications, and it took few hotel staff to explain and 15-20 min, finally a staff who can speak their language, got some refund back, should be 15 euros.
My style is also similar. If I feel worth it, I can pay big $$$, but if I don't think an item is worthy, I will haggle even for a little bit 😜

As a frequent traveler, I hate being charged for anything at hotels that I did not ask for or was told in advance about and if it's more than $2-$3, I'm going to bring it up to the hotel as a matter of principle. On a recent completed hotel stay, the hotel emailed me a bill with unexplained charges of something like $4.75 per night and that just ticked me off and I sent them a polite message asking for further info, lo & behold it was an error and they had not meant to send me that copy.

It is really great when one spots these kinds of references being worn in the wild... so rare to see but a real joy when it happens
Now for decent hotels to charge for wifi these days is completely unacceptable in my opinion. It should be a service baked into the price of the stay. Particularly as the coffee shop around the corner provides complimentary wifi to anyone walking in.
You're right, some decent hotels charges wifi but motels or budget hotels provide free 😳
With cellphone rates and better plans, I just use my data nowadays, no longer need to go to McDonald's or Starbucks for free wifi while traveling.

I expect to get what I have paid for and nothing less.
As for wifi, I just find that in this day and age if a hotel still charges guests for wifi it says a lot about how backward its brand is. Whatever the class, it should be a necessity these days. I don't think any hotel charges guests extra for a TV set, and having wifi is arguably more basic than having a TV set these days.

+1...it seems can't live with www nowadays.
Can't imagine going back to VCR or CRT TVs, but for music, vinyl records are making a comeback, interesting...

We should keen in mind the spirit of this forum and the idea of not getting carried away by money. We can surely "think" that a hotels's WIFI charge is or is not acceptable price-wise or in line with other WIFI offerings (Starbucks). We can have our thoughts based on what we believe is a set of accepted, pre-set norms in terms of prices. There are contemporary standards, linked to a certain commercial model and demographics, a confluence of trend lead by the main players of the commercial standards in hotels. So, a standard - about WIFI prices - is set. However, as time goes by, the standard will surely change.
But going beyond the "thinking" it in the privacy of our own minds and being the voice that represents the masses is quite another. Each society and culture places its own standards on what is and is not "acceptable" in spending money. That varies a lot from one culture/nation/person to another. What allows one person to stand up and make "judgment"?

must conform to some preset vision of "right" price just doesn't always work as a universal truth because we all tend to differ in how we make subjective judgments.
Money should not be discussed here, as we prefer to discuss the non-monetarian aspects of watches and WIFI prices regardless of their price.
