A comparo came to mind after pulling out La Bomba...
Much has been made of the size of the 5976, and while we can all read of its dimensions and mass, I thought laying the Naughty alongside a few of the original "big" watches may be telling. Panerai test subjects include PAM 64 - aka La Bomba - and PAM 106, my first timepiece and therefore my wife's nemesis 😉.
I don't have a scale to hand, but no need, as the 5976 and it's WG case and bracelet easily "out-heft" either Panerai. I suspect bracelet/strap excluded the PAM 64 would give the 5976 a real test. That aside, please enjoy the couple iPhone pictures. I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Apologies for the quick composition and poor lighting 😌

Unusual for sure. Reflective of my watch collecting journey, which started 15 years ago with the then less-established Panerai. There are a few of these early pieces which I'll cherish for life 😀 [nt]

That's a very explicite example
We often discuss about sizes, about how relative a matter it is (depends on wrist size, what we are used to seeing about proportions etc...).
Your picture shows that, as we can enjoy Panerai watches, there is room for bigger watches than the usual traditional and smaller sizes. The demand is high for over 40mm watches, whether classical or casual and sporty.
