Basically, there are hand painted tiles that are painted to create an incredible motif. They're normally large format paintings.
Patek Philippe's Rare Handcrafts department decided to emulate two of these Azulejos paintings. The Barge, as you see above, and The Porter. They start off as white enamel dials and they are then painted by hand using tiny paint brushes and blue ink. There's a great video on YouTube, just search "Patek Philippe Azulejos" and you should find it.
