I remember it like yesterday, doing this same head to head comparison. I frankly thought the 5196 was going to roll, as its so close to being the perfect dial (should the subseconds be dropped down...)
But its like that one imperfection opens the door little by little and I started to realize how harmonized the Lange is.
When you flip them over, the Lange micro takes on this lively liquid fluidity, while the PP has a bit more draggy jumpiness.
Then you see more depth to the lange mvmt. The tremblaged rotor, the engraved balance cock, the stripes seem a touch deeper in my comparo. The zero reset seconds snapping to attention.
The Lange feels a little denser, in a pleasant way - maybe a mm smaller. Then you make it back to the dials, and the harmony of the Lange is just all there...
The enamel, the "imperfectly printed" dial, the red X. The blued hands.
I didn't expect the comparo to come out that way, but oh did it.
