I got a Nautilus 3800/1J, so I paired it with an Aquanaut 5065/1J. When I line them up like this, I can see how compact the 3800 is.

3800 is navy dial, 5065 is black
This 3800/1J originally had a white dial called ”ceramic", but I purchased a navy dial separately and installed it. I think the 3800j with a black calendar disc is rare.
The clasp is not a J type for ease of use (durability) reasons.
I feel that it has a different quality to the clasp on the 5711.
Add the 5711R to complete the trio of the gold bracelet models.
5065J for me. Its quirky elements elevate it to the sublime. The bracelet included.

It is a masterpiece. Much better than the Nautilus for me of all versions I’ve seen. But 5167 and the other newer Aquanauts lack the charm. Your collection is off the charts amazing. It’s such a privilege to enjoy your posting along with all the other amazing members here.
Originally, I wanted a 3800J with a blue dial (black calendar disc), but I couldn't find one in good condition. At that time, I found a beautiful ceramic dial and a blue dial (from the same era) for sale, so I bought them and replaced them.
Beautiful watch and thank you for sharing these nice images.

Recently I have been checking 3800J/3 Nautilus quite a bit..... unfortunately I've never had a chance to try 3800 on my wrist in person.
I do own 5065 on strap (and bracelet) and the watch is about perfect size to my eyes on my 6.75" (cca 17cm) wrist. Actually purchased it just very recently and did not even get a chance to put the bracelet on.... but I digress.
The watch looks perfect on you. Would you please mind to share the size of your wrist. Also would like to hear your opinion as how the 3800 overall feels to your eyes when comparing to 5065.
