Is there a notable difference in 5235 movement series?
I noticed earlier series of 5235G had the 31-260 REG QA movement set with 29 jewels while later series and newer 5235R version have 31 jewels…
Am aware the model had issues at production start, but does this change in jewels make a notable difference in any way? I guess if they still sold the 29-jewel version it was working fine… hopefully 😅

My 5235G from 2015 has 29 jewels and it was -1 seconds/day before a non-critical maintenance service I chose to have earlier this year.
Compared to the stock photo for 31 jewel movement, it looks as if there are the same number of visible jewels on the movement side so I guess the jewel count increase must be from the calendar mechanism.

As the main issue I think from what I have read was with the initially announced power reserve of 60 hours that went down to 48 hours due to power necessary for annual calendar day/month jumps.
But am curious as to why they actually added those two jewels if the initial movement was still working fine and it did not improve the power reserve either eh eh

The two extra jewels are cap jewels on the escape wheel, you can see them from the case back
In the future (if production goes on long enough) it'll probably get jeweled barrel arbors, which will be another +2

And do you know what is the added value of those current +2 and possible future +2 jewels on the movement efficiency?
In theory,
less friction in horizontal positions, tighter control of endshake, and maybe better oil retention. I can't say if it actually makes a difference though. The silicon escape wheel is lighter than a metal one, which might be why they didn't use cap jewels in the first place (this is just me speculating).
