Please help me to be financially irresponsible. 5146P vs 6000R
Last year while in Japan, I got bitten by the Patek bug and bought an amazing 5146G anthracite dial. Loved it for a few months and decided to trade it for a 5140P. Don't regret it one bit. But I do miss the 5146G as I see it being more versatile. (Only slightly though)
I'm in Japan again and found two references without box and papers for a pretty good deal.
1) 5146P - always preferred the stick hour markers over the 9-12-3 configuration. But, this is pretty close to the 5140P I already have.
2) 6000r - kind of an oddball but the for whatever reason, the rose gold case and chocolate brown dial are beautiful to me. It's unconventional from a Patek pov but that's what makes it kind of cool to me. I mean, at least it's not a Cubitus.
There's a 6000G athracite for a little more (box and papers)...but for some reason, it just doesn't hit me the same way.
So questions are:
Thoughts on the rose gold? It's quite flashy and I don't have a job that requires a suit. I typically don't dress flashy at all...but this watch is damn pretty. Anyone use a rose gold on the daily?
Opinions on the 5146P vs 6000r?
Should I just hold out for a LF galet classic I've been wanting for years?
On anothe note - saw a cubitus in the flesh the other day at Jackroad and while it's not THAT bad IRL, it's still pretty laughable. Only time will tell I guess.
It's funny - I suspected servicing would be a pain.
I had the chance to purchase a galet last year while here. I passed because in my mind, it was difficult to pay so much for steel.

It was also very light weighted from my memory - so light it felt a bit fragile.
But they are still beautiful.
What else should you buy if you attach so much importance to individual stories like this?
You rarely read about positive experiences in forums. I prefer to buy what I like and make my own experience.

too many (relatively) stories on a really rare watch that is not inhouse ay large but I feel is made with too many subcontractors....

In-house is largely marketing. At LF everyone does what they do best and the result speaks for itselve. Just my humble opinion.
For my taste, I'd go with the annual calendar

which I'm not crazy about. But it is, as you say
unconventional. On another note, when you remark
about a watch being dressy, or sporty, casual, etc.
I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I see my watches as
pieces of art that I have on my wrist. I only look at
the watch and see what I'm in the mood for that day.
I'd forget the LF. How about a Journe Chronometre

And the 6000 is a ref I would avoid...
You may look there for the 5107P as well, you may like it.
Or, the now back to reality sub 50K prices of the 5960P
Why would you let anyone tell you what you “should” buy?
One can only tell what he would personally do, but only you can tell what works for you. Chances are that you will get here multiple diverging answers among which some will comfort your own feelings and some won’t. So just follow your own feelings.
Here, I know what would be my choice (LF, because their natural escapement micro rotor is really on another level for me and because I like neither 5146P nor 6000R) but how could this personal feeling be helpful to you if you feel otherwise ? Best.

Tried on the 6000G grey dial and it really wasn't to my liking. The grey is not a super dark anthracite but rather a little ice blue-ish. Maybe it was the lighting but either way, it was a no-no.
Now waiting to try the 6000r - saw it at the store and then they sent it to Osaka and now I'm waiting for it to get back here in Tokyo. We'll see if I like it then! 🤷♂️

Regarding rose gold — I have a VC in that metal — it dresses up and it dresses down nicely — it makes my rotation with regularity.

I found a Rolex bubbleback for 1/10th the price of this 6000r today. I've been looking for a great bubbleback for years. I was just about to say goodbye to the Patek debate and then saw tiny slivers of radium on the hands.
So heartbreaking. It would've been a done deal.
(Note: I've owned a few radium watches in the past. Then I spoke to a nuclear scientist about it. Then I got a radiation meter. Got rid of them as quick as I could. I know there's lots of "just don't lick the radium" info out there but my gut instinct is to listen to the nuclear scientist with a PhD. Lol.)

It was a last second purchase....couldn't be happier.
Decided the 5146P was just too similar to my 5140P.
I do love the way the 6000r can dress up or down.

That is hard for me to appreciate/understand. The PP5146G initially made your heart sing and then after too short of a time you decided to trade it away. Could that have been a premature decision?

I'll be the first one to admit that my heart can be fickle. However, the 5140P was always at the top of my wishlist. I didn't even know the 5146G existed until I came across it in a store in Tokyo.
Long story short - it's been a few months since I made the trade and while I do miss the 5146G a little, I don't regret the decision whatsoever.
