Interestinly, according to Hodinkee, it is estimated to have been produced in 300 to 500 examples only. Also, according to the same Hodinkee wonderful article "production numbers are not confirmed by Patek but John Reardon, now of Collectibility and formerly of Patek Philippe USA (or the Henri Stern Watch Agency, as its officially known), has estimated that around 2,800 examples of the 5970 were produced across all four metals."
Couldnāt agree more. For me, the 5970 in any metal is my favorite reference from the modern era, although P is perhaps my most favored. The other reference that

For me.. 5178 (cream dial) 5970 5074 5070 5712 (or 3712) 5074 and 5070 shares the same case design but it doesnāt feel right to leave out either of them I wanted to squeeze in a time calatrava but couldnāt find a ref worthy to be in the top 5
Nico, I just saw a listing on European Watch Company for a 3417 steel without the amagnetic script on the dial. Appeared to be in excellent condition. No original certificate but has extract from the archives. You could grab one of your top fivesā¦ā¦
