Patek 5738/1r rarity
Hi guys,
I have a chance to purchase the PP 5738/1r from my AD. My partner liked it so I registered my interest to buy it for her, but unfortunately we recently broke up.
I still want to keep promise with my AD as he treated me well over the last few years, so I would like to know your opinion about the rarity and collectability of this PP 5738/1r in the current market. My AD said he has only received 2 (including this) from 2024.

Sorry to hear you broke up. i'd suggest letting someone else get it for their lover / friend / sig other / ... or even themselves.
My wife bought herself the diamond ribbon years ago. Maybe your ex wants to buy it for herself?
Also... Maybe a young lady the AD knows wants it as well, so she should have it to wear and enjoy. Ask your AD is your best bet, be honest.

My advice is not to buy something that you will not wear. Explain to your AD who will understand. If you buy it, you can gift it to your next partner.😉
You never actually own a 5738/1r. You merely look after it for the next romantic partner.

If you really like it, is it a possibility to buy and hold for someone special down the line?
Personally, I would never do it, but it sounds like you want the watch.

I would hope that if you explain to your AD that you were buying this watch solely as a gift to your then girlfriend and
that after a painful breakup you couldn’t possibly ever wear this watch because of the sad memories it would engender, your dealer would totally understand - especially if you tell your AD you would be happy to buy another Patek in place of it. A watch that would bring you great joy each time you wore it.
