Just purchase one very special watch, but actually get two watches because a quick strap change - and the watch can look feminine or masculine. The first reference I thought of is the 5231J because of it's smaller 38.5mm X 10.23 case dimensions, artistic/romantic flair of the enamel center dial, potential for many colorful strap variations, and serious horology.

These photos are from the web (Ms Thun's article) and I didn't mean to give the impression that I own one or both of these watches. Actually the photo of the two watches together is very misleading.
I mean to ask the members if they would purchase a watch with the purpose of actively sharing it with their wife. If the watch has a quick release strap (pull tab bars) such as many modern Pateks, the wife might choose a more colorful strap and the husband could switch out the strap for her on those occasions. Then when the husband wants to wear it, he can switch to his preferred strap color.
I mean to ask the members if they would purchase a watch with the purpose of actively sharing it with their wife. Then when the husband wants to wear it, he can switch to his preferred strap color.
I haven’t found success in sharing watches with my wife
These reasons emerged when we started sharing this Seiko (I’ve never loaned her my one Patek).
And Grand Seiko
Strap or bracelet length (maybe negated by changing straps each time but that’s a nuisance)
Setting date and time (and/or other complications) when the watch is unworn by one or both of us
Inability of either of us to reliably return the watch to an agreed-upon spot or time for the other to wear it.
Lack of care or concern
“What! You wore it in the spa?” “Yes” she said, “but I didn’t inhale … I mean, submerge!”

Beautiful photos! I didn't think of the potential problems you listed! 
I certainly didn't imagine my wife damaging the watch or abusing it. I assumed she would treat it as carefully as I do, but that is a large assumption. Thank you for your input.
I imagine my wife wearing the (shared) watch under the following conditions: (1) I'm alive and we are together when she wears it, (2) I'm deceased and I'm hoping from the grave that she is careful with it.

Yes, the photo of the two watches is lovely. But my question is, would you purchase 1 watch for the express purpose of sharing it with your wife?
My wife couldn’t care less about watches.
But I think the 5098, whether P or R, is or could be worn by women as well as by men.

Actually, I am forced to do that some day in the future
Because I asked PP for an application piece (out of catalogue) for me and my wife (wanted the same watch) and was told that I will only be able to get one. So whenever it arrives we will have to play the bracelet game (larger/smaller)...

Occasionally I share my Chanel J-12 with her and she shares her
Rolex celebration with me. However, I do not share my 5131s with her
A few years ago I had the honour of attending a GTG with Lung Lung. She is a great collector and I wish that she could participate more on WPS !

My wife and I have seen several videos/articles featuring Lung Lung and my wife finds her refreshingly candid, unassuming and humble. Serious heavy weight pieces!
