Good evening all,
I need some help with a relatively unimportant problem. I recently acquired a JLC duometre chronograph in the original yellow gold and am absolutely loving the finishing on it. That, and just maturing as a collector, has caused me to think about making some changes to my small collection. Current watches include (at work now, so pics aren't easy to do):
16800 - original matte dial and hands
116509 - "ghost" dial
Vacheron Overseas chrono 2nd gen black dial 49150
UN 1533-150 - blue dial variant
Patek 5960p-001 - grey dial
JLC Duometre chronograph q6011420 (yellow gold, cream dial)
Realistically, the only two I would sell / trade are the 5960 or 116509. 16800 was from grandfather, overseas is my wife's favorite and we will occasionally adjust bracelet so that she can borrow it, 1533 was a gift from her soon after we started dating and then swapped out the gator for rubber strap so it's a great summer pool / boating / playing with the kids watch.
I was all set to get rid of the 116509 since the PCL drove me crazy, but actually had a PPF (for lack of a better term) applied and love it so much more now. Scratches never bothered me in the past, but for whatever reason on this watch they did. Nothing large, just those little hairlines that seemed so obvious despite the fact that it was probably only me noticing. When I bought the 5960, the concept of the annual calendar and a flyback was too much to pass up. But, since we always have a phone near, the date isn't realistically all that important and it's getting harder to read as I'm getting older. I tend to wear watches a few weeks at a time and then let them sit. And yes, it's not that hard to adjust the 5960, but after seeing the finishing on the JLC thought about changing the Patek for another that is handwound and allows me to interact more.
I have sort of narrowed it to:
1) 5170G-001 which I'd prob put on a dark brown or grey alligator. Love the Breguet numerals, rectangular pushers. Maybe too dressy?
2) 5172G-010 with same strap choices. Like the vintage inspired look. My skin is usually described as "warm autumn" or whatever that means, so wasn't sure if it would blend in too much
3) Lange 1815 chrono. Either rose gold silver dial (414.032) or boutique white gold silver dial (414.026). beautiful movement and a flyback. Don't like the arabics on this as much and doesn't seem to have as much depth to dial. Feel that the Datograph would prob be a bit larger than I'd ideally like.
Any other suggestions? Montblanc had beautiful movements but mainly seemed a little too large. Ideally looking to stay in the same price range or no more than the 5172.
Thanks in advance
