My first Patek Philippe....
It's not done yet, just a hope for 2008, the work done being a supplementary motivation!
Any idea to convince my wife (replace by banker if necessary)?
So that you know my taste the selection is easy though. The choice is between the classic 5196 RG and the new grey dial 6000 for the modern option!
A ref 96, 3796 or 5026 could be a discontinued one.
I'd take it easy for the first.
5098 and 5396 would come then with a 980 RG!
I don't even want to think about what should come next!
What do you think? Am I in the right way?

Hmmm I'd go for a variant of the ref. 96
As the first, classic Patek, unless of course you want to spend a wee bit more then you could look at the ref. 5970 or 5004. Or even a ref. 5013 or 5016. 
But coming back to earth, any variant of the ref. 96 would be a good choice IMHO. The 32mm one is a bit small, so the 5196 might work better.

Ref 96 is really appealing, specially when you see CL's post upper the forum!
Ref 3796 is interesting too but if it has to be around 30mm I'd prefer a 96's 12-120.
Ref 5096 would not be bad but probably so rare.
Ref 5026 would be the perfect deal but perhaps not easy to find, or more expensive, I don't know!
Ref 5196 is quite nice indeed, modern, beautiful, readily available, all the advantages of a current PP.
Ref 5396 is amazing but not the same league anymore!
In fact I'm quite open, and once I have a budget allocated I could even choose one without a "6"!
Oh 5016 has a "6".

Sorry, I don't own one..
as I aleady have another simple time only RG. I'm also quite fond of the 5296wg. The only "small" design flaw is the date apeature,..wish it didn't have one, but it's not a big deal, still a great watch, and love the sector dial.
Pro: 5196rg:
1.Great dial, love the dauphine hands, very classic.
2. Great calatrava case design.
Pro 5296wg:
1. Great auto movement
2. screw back case
3. Sector dial.
Would be the "perfect" watch, sans date aperture.

I'm smitten by the discontinued ref 5000, Dje, and the 6000 . . .

If I can achieve to offer myself a Patek Philippe I want it to be a daily beater. I want to live with it.
The new grey dial 6000 is an excellent option to explore. The other one that would be even better would be a 5146P! Looks like the perfect one.
The 96 style was perfect on the 96, so I would not need an enlarged case for a dress watch. I'd go vintage if I was to choose that way.
Now I have to go to work to grow the fruits!
