Dear PP friends ,

I am a simple FANATIC of Patek .

I called my twins kids one PATEK and the other PHILIPPE....(ok it's a joke otherwise my wife is killing me...)

So I called my litle 2 dogs in this way.....really not a joke .

I would like to have your suggests how to order 5980/1 and 5712/1 ...

Ok, I don't want them for yesterday but at least in 2/3  years....

Do you know any dealer in any world town accepting orders of these references in 2 years or before ??

My standard PP pusher...oooops, "dealers" are smiling when I ask about these 2 references ....

even if I bought 5970...5070...Worldtime....Dualtime...etc....and they change the argument...

or maybe someone of you is changing idea and leaving open booking...

did you buy them from the same dealer, or from various dealers and / or GD?  As with any business relationship, loyalty is also rewarded, since it's a 2 way street.  Just because you have these high complications in your collection, if you've never bought a single watch from the AD that you're walking into, then you're just like anybody coming from the street. Just my opinion.  BTW, maybe you can share what part of the world you're posting from, and some fellow purist might be able to point you to the right direction

I bought always from different dealers.....normally I buy where I find......from your point of view wich the fastest Country in delivery PP ? Switzerland ? normally how manu months from the order ?

Posting from the point of view of an American, I feel that finding a smaller, privately owned dealer will help. Talk to the owner and establish a relationship. Cultivate this relationship, and sooner or later, voila... you're "somebody" to an AD, and pieces that you covet will become "available".  However, you must have patience and work on the relationship aspect.  Just my opinion

Your suggest is nice and in the same opinion of me.............but in the past. 

I tried your suggested way, but TO BE SOMEONE, maybe, you have to buy other stock reference ( frankly speaking I don't like Acquanaut or other always in stock reference like standard Calatrava,especially for lady....).

When you buy a car, for example an ASTON MARTIN, you don't have to buy a VANTAGE than a DB9 in order to be able to buy ( or to be someone for your PP dealer..!!) a VANQUISH or DBs.

What do you think Guys ??

p.s. I LOVE 5980 , before or after I will find it ( not in "open" market with 10% Premium...) 

 

 

 

For me at least, it is of NO use to have multiple PP goodies IF they are purchased from different dealers aka more than one source. Buying from multiple sources surely can net one cheaper acquisition pricing, faster accumulation of collection but the net end result is that when one gets to the stage of collecting heavy duty pieces (repeater/split second perps etc) requiring factory approval/recognition, what one is faced with is an inquisitive "who are you" query from the factory AKA "sorry we are unable to accomodate your request at this time OR our waiting list is currently closed".

A sad but more often than not true reality some of today's crop of collectors are facing.

when watches are gifts from different persons....is very hard to say : please go to buy to PP dealer Mr... X .....in X street...Town...

By the way my actual dealer.....even if  I bought a couple of PP is not so sure to accept orders on this reference 5980 ...

Hard life for collectors.......ok I can survive without 5980........for at least 12 months more....after I go out of mind !!!
