I recently acquired a YG PP3796 from a second-hand watch dealer. This is a pretty rare piece retailed by Tiffany, and the seller said the dial is a enamel one. I took the watch to see my AD today and was told it didnt look like a enamel dial . I was advised to send the watch to PP's service center for confirmation.
Before I go there, I would like to know if any one here can kindly provide me with a "third" opinion on this issue. As it is really diffcult to tell, even under a loop, I decide not to put a scan here.
Many thanks in advance.

its data base and found out that on 13th November 2005 there was a exactly the same 3796 with ruby indexes on auction in Geneva. According to the item description, this watch has a porcelain dial.
So the experts at Antiquorum may also make a mistake here.
Anyway, thanks so much for your photos.

while "listening" to experts from Antiquorum. They used both enamel and porcelain for the same watch on different auctions. Haha

I must add that for the clock market the two terms are interchangeable.
I was also initially confused by this terminology when I started my clock collection.

speaking they all look very nice on your wrist. Congratulations!

I have a small wrist. It looks much bigger. Thanks for the nice words.

Based on my limited knowledge of Patek timepieces, all three 3796 you have shown are rare items. The first one is a 3796D with a Hobnail patterned case. Very sall number of this watch were made, according to an old sales person. The second one belongs to a limited edition made for a Taiwan AD ( Wu Shan?) for its anniversary. The last one is of course a platinum one so no need for me to say too much. So congratulations again.
By the way, my wrist is also small and it has suffered a lot for bearing heavy watches, and needs a break sometimes with a light one such as 3796.

The last one is a 18K white gold. I do hope it's a platinum. I'll keep hunting though. It's nice to know there are people out there who appreciate such "tiny" pieces. Happy hunting!

how bout these ones ??
A Killing piece!
Absolutely love it.
Great, great combo.
Thanks for sharing these beauties on a sad Monday morning!

It's my turn to guess: the first one with a salmon dial is a limited edition for the Japapese market (with a transparent back), 18K. The one on its right is a 96 (I doubt if 3796 has this dial and Geee, I love the iconic big crown) in platinum. Second picture, 3796R silver dial on the left. Third picture is a challenge, I've never seen a black dial on a 3796. Is it a limited edition for a special event / market (like the salmon)?
Thanks for sharing the great pictures.

I especially love the platinum 96 with diamond markers.

wide opened. Now we know how deep the water can be here. Hampster07 and tic-toc, thank you so much for sharing these great scans.
But back to my question, does 3796 have any enamel or porcelain dial version?

Dial: "fond glack ivoire, heures saphirs" in French. (the WG with blue saphire markers).
Hope this helps.

i believe patek calatrava 96 has made in enamel dial, but that was long time ago.
regarding modern 3796, according to Antiquorum june 2002' Hongkong auction, one particular calatrava made special has black enamel dial ... but i cant be sure of the dial being enamel nor confirm its information.
another model with enamel dial, was patek 3718 in steel case with enamel dial, made specially for the japanese market in 1989. i believe 500 pcs were made.
We can't rely on the auction house's description as they won't hold themselves responsible for any mistakes in their description or report. The best they would do is to cancel the transaction and give you back the money. The most reliable source is only from Patek's achives record. AFAIK, 3718's dial description is also "ivory, white gold index". Don't know about the black dial Giorgio Seralnoli ediiton, auction house A's description is "enamel" though.
Do you own the 96 enamel? Big congrats! Could you share some more scans? Thanks.
