Lemania CH27 caliber ebauches have been used to fashion CH27-70 (5070's) , CH27-70Q (3970, 3971, 5020) and CHR27-70Q (5004). They form the Grail watcehs of Patek, which forever remain the chronos/perpetual chronos/split-second perpetual chronos.

5970 (yawn yawn) , 5101P, 5078P, 5016 are among the grails.
But what I really hope for is a time only grail from Patek.
There isn't anything outstanding from the current collection.....Calatrava 5916P is almost there but
the small movement ending up with a too high second hand dial, is a big compromise to make it a cult /grail.
5970 seems to be the only one that kinda represent the most usable grail currently.
It has the seemingly perfect case size and wonderful classic dial. Looks great in any metal too.
Though I must say the mentioning of this reference give me cringe lately, it is still a very, if not the most beautiful piece in modern Patek.

There is no one but several holy grails !
It's the reason why Patek is the most prestigious brand !
Not because each model is a masterpiece which is not obviously the case but because there are several holy grails in the collection.

Except for one.
And imo its a serious contender and that is the magnificent 5207P.

Hi LarryFRCGP, why would you consider the 5960 a "what is Mr Stern thinking?" watch? Interested to know as I'm not very familiar with the merits of this watch, except that I find the concentric gauges at the 6 o'clock a very efficient and innovative use of functions/space and that it's a first generation watch with the PP seal, not to mention it's a nice design. Thanks in advance.

I am fortunate enough to hang onto one each of Patek chronos with CH27-70, CH27-70Q and CHR27-70Q calibers. I was offered a 5960P when it first appeared with a good discount, somewhat 60% off what you need to pay for now, but I still passed it on, with no regret as off today.

hi Eric, I'm new to this thread...so pls bear with my quetions if they are a little off-tangent, but do you mean there are some PPs with Lemanias inside? I understand Lemanias were popular back in the 60s/70s but are they particularly desireable, or just that it's rare to find them in PP? (I have a Lemania in a Sinn, hence my interest to know...). Thanks in advance.
Regarding Lemania,
PP used it in many of their chronos. PP now has their own, in-house chrono movement, I believe it was first, in their 5960 and then in their 5980.

Patek pointed out a few years ago that they went with their own modern in-house chrono partially so that less time would be needed building and adjusting the watches. The new modern in-house movements are made with tighter tolerances, so they require considerably less effort to build and adjust. While the new watches are easier to make, that also makes the older ones with Lemania more desirable. Basically, the amount of workmanship needed means that there were few Lemania-based chronos built. Much more chronos with the modern chrono movements will be made, and that means they will be less rare.

3970 and 5078/5016. Why? Perpetual chronograph calendar is best executed by PP IMHO even though several examples from other watch houses come close. Why 3970 and not 5970? Size was commensurate to its times and it was a time when PP was worn by the discerning collectors and relatively FREE from the speculative nature of some of the buyers of the 5970 today.
Why 5078/5016? Purity of 5078 coupled with enamel dial execution by PP is amongst the best in this high arena inhabited only by a select few. 5016? The REFERENCE for technological tour de force in a classic size that can and will stand the test of time, future wrist sizes be damned.
