Patek Philippe

There really isn't a substantial difference between the watches with a Geneva Seal and a Patek Philippe Seal. However, some watch aficionados do like the cachet of a watch with the Geneva Seal.

Thus, in an effort to document the watch movements that have been converted to the Patek Philippe seal, which watches have you seen with the new Patek Philippe Seal?

5960R
5167/1A
5159G

I've also seen a 5960R with Geneva Seal, wasn't the 5960R the poster-child for the new Patek Philippe Seal?

What have you seen in the new seal?

Anyone see a 5146 or 5396 with the new Patek Philippe Seal yet?

Month I shall see a 5196G with the PP seal

What makes you so certain that you'll be seeing the 5196G with a Patek Philippe Seal? Is it specific to the 5196G model? Will other models (such as the one in platinum) have the PP seal? Will other models that utilize the same movement (such as the 5119) have the Patek Philippe Seal?

hi, do you think that aficionados would make a difference between the geneva seal and the pp seal? my pp has the geneva seal and i feel very good about this point. IT is posible that it has to do with the fact that i do not have a new pp watch. thanks jorge

The vast majority of Patek Philippe buyers won't care. In fact, the vast majority may not even know about the new Patek Philippe Seal.

However, a good percentage of the collectors will pay attention to it.

As a self proclaimed Patek Philippe aficionado myself, personally I'd rather get a couple Geneva Seal pieces in my collection before they go extinct.

Now, it'd be very very strange if say Patek Philippe went from the Patek Philippe Seal back to the Geneva Seal in a short time. Then Collectors will all of a sudden be trying to pounce on the few watches that have Patek Philippe Seals. However, it seems that the Patek Philippe Seal is here to stay.

My stainless steel 5712, purchased from AD in early January has the Patek seal.  It looks pretty cool to me.  I'm sure it is much nicer than the cheap ones they used to make with that crummy old Geneva seal!

My new sealed in its box 5196G has been sat in a dark corner of my AD's safe since before Christmas.

Patek here in the UK, were kind enough to check the serial number with Geneva and hey presto the details came back stating that it had the PP seal.  

I'm surprised the 5159 seems to be one of the early converters.

And glad to hear that they can check based off the serial number.

So, when are you going to take acquisition of your new perpetual? I still miss that 5140!
