I don't know which one came first, but they're both nice watches. Thanks for sharing bs22fly!
The Patek Philippe 6000G bodes particularly strongly with me. It was the first watch that got my started with Patek Philippe.
When I first started looking at Patek Philippes, I realized I was very much drawn to the 240 caliber with its beautiful finishing and its micro-rotor. Thus, I began looking for a Patek Philippe timepiece that would fulfill a specific criteria I made; I had to have the date (I don't know the date all the time), I had to have the 240 caliber or another caliber with the micro rotor, I had to have small seconds (I find it more elegant), and I preferred to have a deployant buckle.
The 6000G was the only watch that met all of my criteria. And even today, the 6000G is one of my favorite non-complicated Calatravas.
The 6000G was also the first watch that got me started with Patek Philippe. I loved the simplicity of the dial, the layout of the numbers, and the stark contrast of black with white. The red crescent moon makes a subtle distinction. The micro rotor allows for an open view of the rest of the movement, which under a loop is perfectly finished. The deployant is understated and the grey stitching in the strap just cool!
While this version was discontinued it's nice to see a 3rd generation take hold.
Great post. Great photos. I too like the 6000G. My diffilculty with the 6000G is it seems like it's hard to tell when it's 4:00 or 5:00. The Oris solves that problem nicely!
