Patek Philippe

Hallo!

This morning radio news reported that Great Britain's government is in process of considering the possibility to change its timezone to European Common Time (not sure if i'm correct in determination). This means +1 hour to make days longer.

This will affect all the watch industry as well as PP's World Time Watches. What do you think about technical possibilities to change the dials on WT watches such as 5110, 5130 and (OMG!) 5131?

i can't speak for GB, but at least in switzerland, it almost takes forever for the government to draft -not to mention implement- any changes. so i would not bother too much about that at this point in time, though what you mention is indeed an interesting issue

Caracas changed. Patek Philippe didn't change its world time watch.

Maybe at Patek they believe that within a few years, Venezuala will come back to the previous timezone ?

Yup, Lange acted quite quickly and made the change promptly.

However, I did see a Lange One Timezone in rose gold with a Caracas timezone at an AD a few months ago. The ironic part is that there was a white gold Buenos Aires edition right next to it with Santiago on the dial.

I don't know what Patek Philippe is thinking, but I'm guessing Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez doesn't wear a Patek Philippe Worldtime, since Caracas is now in the wrong timezone on the WorldTime watch. This message has been edited by patrick_y on 2011-02-22 20:09:44

Poor, poor British Government: 24 h per day is not enough for them to bail out the poor, poor bankers.

There is no way the British government will change the basis of all international timekeeping to the same as that of the French and go GMT +1

 

At least not unless Greenwich moves across the channel!

 

Nothing against the French but the old rivalry would come back.  I can only imagine how the tabloids would portray it!
