Patek Philippe

I am planning to place an order for my next patek, 5205 or 5146. I like both of them, however inclined to settle on the new 5205. Looking for other opinions. There are obvious differences, look, price. May be something else I need to know about.

Is the 5146g. I own the gray dial version it is a great wearing watch. Really like a QP at a much lower price point. I love the race track and since I love the chrono look this analog dial is great. I have lodged for several years at the digital window but still prefer the 5146. It is never tiring. Very reliable also. Dead on time. Good luck on your choice.

with my 5146G but the 5205 has another look in addition to some special features. It's very subjective and for an anuual calender they both work extremely well (same caliber) and are both desirable IMO. Go with your heart & disregard the small difference in price.

my thinking towards 5207 is that for me the calendar is more readable, 5146 I have to bring closer to my eyes to read the dials.

I find the dial easier to read... and more important: the case is stunning.

I've wanted a 5146g with slate dial for the longest time and have seen the watch many times but after having my father-in-laws 5205 on this weekend I'd have to say that aesthetically, it may be Patek's nicest looking watch.  Therefore, I would go with the 5205 without a doubt!

I tend to agree with your thoughts, but the 5146 is of course a classic looking Patek compared to the more, but still very beautiful & trendy looking 5205.

I never had any problems reading the dial of the 5146,  and in fact with the cream coloured dial 5146J & G that I had, I would say that it was probably more easier to see the hands for the time then the 5205 in certain lights.

Enjoy your decision making, whichever that you go for, you can't actually lose.

just made my mind and placed a deposit with AD today for 5205. hopefully will get it soon.

I had a similar choice about a year ago; 5146 or 5396. As i would be wearing the watch as a daily, i decided on the 5146. No regrets at all, stunning watch, both with a suit or with jeans.

I have a 5135, for me the 5146 with it's luminous hands and dots wins for me. It is easier to read the time first and foremost because of that, the dates and days should be a draw.  I'm not particularly fond of the white second hand either.

5205 is the nicest Patek ever - IMHO.

The 5205 is a modern direction for Patek... the new dial looks very nice and reminds me of it's much more expensive tourbillon/minute-repeating cousin - the 5207 

The 5146 have a much stronger Patek DNA, the dial and case is very much classic Patek that will last forever into the future.
