Patek Philippe

Last Tuesday, on the evening of May 17th, I had the pleasure to attend a special Patek Philippe event in San Francisco hosted by Tiffany & CO. At this event, Patek Philippe took the opportunity to present the latest pieces from Baselworld 2011 to a lucky group of guests and watch aficionados.

All the usual suspects were present; the alluring 5270G, the clean 5496P, the 5064A, and the 6000R a piece I had an especially keen interest in. Some of you may know that it was the 6000G that started my love for Patek Philippe. Unfortunately, the highly anticipated 5208P was not present, would've very much liked to have seen this piece as it displays the capability and prowess that Patek Philippe is capable of.

The reception started with a special preview of the new timepieces, followed by a dinner, and hand-rolled cigars on the outdoor terrace. Please enjoy the photos of this very enjoyable event, many thanks to Patek Philippe and Tiffany & CO for hosting this wonderful and memorable event!

... due to family matter, I had to cancel the invitation to the presentation and the dinner :-(  We are in the middle of selling parent's house and some weekends must be spent in suburb about 1.5 hours away from Tokyo.

Anyway, so many novelties and I am looking forward to seeing them in fresh one day.  Thanks for the glimps of the new guys!

Thank you Ken for reading and responding! I'm sorry to hear that you could not attend the presentation in Japan, but we all have priorities.

Personally, I was really hoping to see the 5208P, as I'm very curious to hear the sound of that watch. I've heard a few Grand Complications before; the IWC Grand Complication and the Audemars Piguet Grand Complication are perhaps the ones that I've heard the most number of times. The IWC has a very quiet sound, poor tone quality, and was very slow while the AP was very good. I wonder how the 5208P minute repeater would be in terms of tone, volume, and speed.

that the Pateks grow on - did you break off a few branches and see if you can get them to root?

I wanted to do so very much. But there was security everywhere and I'm sure they noticed even when I held my hand to push down the leaves so they wouldn't be blocking my view of the watch.

If only I could get a tree that grew Patek Philippe timepieces... That'd be great! Patek Philippe fruit would be very tasty indeed!

What best way to celebrate?  PP pieces, great meal, and a handroll cigar after?

Those perks are hard to come by and few and far between. I think there were more of these events in Los Angeles if I remember correctly.

But yes, great pieces, and they allowed me to take photographs! Unfortunately the stands of the watches were so high that I wasn't able to look through the view-hole of the camera before I took the shot, so some photographs are imperfect.

The food was decent. And the cigars at the end was a nice memorable touch.

Thanks for all the photos! Fine watches, fine food and fine cigars... what more could you ask for? Awesome.

I could ask for a lot of things, but some things wouldn't be reasonable. How about actually allowing me to buy the first 5270G.

What they did give me was a nice goody bag that I know I will really enjoy. Because they gave me that for free, I'm too embarrassed to ask for anything else for the moment.

Nevertheless, that didn't stop me from taking a cigar home.
