Hi fellas,
as my post number 1000 approached I started a lot of consideration where to post it...
I am torn between PP and Omega.
So I made the decision to post 2 special watches, one on the PP forum will receive number 999 and the
1000th post will be on the Omega forum because it is the main place I am lurking around.
I have realized that there is a lot of "traffic" on the Patek forum but I got the impression that most of the guys here
are collecting and discussing "new" watches and not vintage...
I am a vintage collector and I guess 99% of my collection are before 1960
So please forgive me when I post one of my oldies here - I hope that somebody is going to admire and love this piece
as much as I do...
Some years ago I got the chance to put my hands on a rare bird, a pink gold version of Ref. 2431, the so called "flame"
It is a ref. I had been hunting for several years.
Enjoy the picture!
And if you are interested in Omegas go and visit the Omega forum and have a look on my post number 1000 where I share a rare Omega out of my vintage section.
The post is in progress and will show up soon...

But, before going on the Omega forum, a few words about this Vintage PP.
I'm not a colored gold but what's not to love here?
The delicately worked lugs, contrasting with the simple, sober beauty of the dial, that is indeed a keeper.
A piece which reveals the sure taste of his owner.
See you on the Omega Forum for the firework!
Best,
Nicolas.
Thank you for the kind words my friend!
Glad you like it.
See you on the Omega forum - post is ready now...
kind regards
Erich
Hi Julian,
I know that you are also a "vintage guy" with beautiful pieces!
It is a pity that there are so few vintage lovers here on this forum - it is completely different on the
Omega forum - there we discuss mainly vintage pieces - interesting difference...
regards
Erich
Hi Roni,
lucky you! This model is pretty scarce in any gold color.

Erich
Hi Tyler,
thank you for your kind comments.
The name "flame" was chosen due to the shape of the lugs...
There is noting particular for the pre 60ies models... I think you misunderstood my statement.
I wanted to express that 99% of my watch collection (mostly Omega, several Pateks) is pre 1960 - as some
put the limit to vintage at 1970. In fact most of my watches are even older, 40ies and 50ies
Kind regards
Erich
Hi Jerome,
I appreciate your kind comment and I also agree with what you wrote about PP watches.
This is the reason why I have several pieces in my collection
I do not collect modern Omegas, vintage only.
And there are incredible pieces, both in aesthetical and technical respect for a fraction of what a PP costs.
This might be one of the reasons why there are so many vintage lovers on Omega forum I guess.
have a great weekend
Erich
Hi Stefan,
thank you for your kind comments.
The name of this model derived from the shape of the lugs which look like flames...

Thanks for sharing.
I think vintage Patek is a fantastic world to dive into. I am just looking at it for the moment, maybe it will be more concrete one day .
cheers
Francois
Hi Francois,
it is the right time to start now!
1) Vintage pieces are smaller than the contemporary ones - so they can be bought much cheaper as fashion commands large pieces now...
2) Due to the financial crisis some people have to sell now... a chance to obtain collectible pieces.
3) Vintage watch prices will go up every year as PP raises the prices for the contemporary watches every year.
The earlier you start the better...
Just my thoughts.
regards
Erich
