So Patek has decided to release a grand complication for the ladies and it has done it with this split seconds monopusher.
The 5959 was always going to be for the connoisseur collector, who does not follow trends, due to its small size. It was admired but was never a seller as today's gentleman (uhhh!) requires something more macho with which to define himself. Clearly, I exclude men who are physically too challenging for the size of the watch.
I put it to you that the 5959 has had its reputation further damaged now that the same size is available for the woman, not that I am complaining as I love the understatement of the watch.
Over to you.
The 5959 was never intended to be a seller. It is one of the most complicated/difficult watches for Patek to build. Might be easier to put together in a larger case but that's not the point.
It's my understanding that very few have been made because of the difficulty. It's an amazing piece with a beautiful dial that wears larger than its actual size.

Choosing between the 5959 and 3939 would be very difficult for me.
Even though my daily beater is an inexpensive 41mm titanium, I much prefer the smaller pieces because of their elegance.
