Aquanaut is a very interesting watch...
I thought for many years that this is one of the watches I will never buy. But...
Last Monday we had some extra time with my wife in London and we decided to visit the Patek Salon in New Bond Street. One of the watches we were looking was 5167 Aquanaut. My wife explained to me that I really need to get one and her reasoning was that because I love to wear Patek's watches, I should also get one modest looking watch which I could wear on holidays, when swimming or diving, etc. In addition to that, she liked the dial a lot.
So what do you expect happened? No, I did not buy it on spot because I did not have the cash with me. But when I arrived home, I ordered the watch, transferred the money and I will get mine on Monday subject UPS is working like they should. I could get the watch tomorrow but we are spending the weekend in Budpest.

Hi Kari, I was in the same boat, wanted a more complicated but...
.... over Christmas I tried on the 5167 and it was love at first sight!
I walked past the Patek shop in Star City, Sydney, Australia and it winked at me. Tried it on and it was just meant to be.
Watches are hugely overpriced Down Under so I had a BNIB 5167 sent to me here in London from the US soon after I returned.
This watch can be worn on any occasion, dress up or down, boardroom, pub, trading floor or beach, the 5167 hits the mark!

I resized mine by cutting two slots from the 12 side and three from the 6 side, makes it sit nicely balanced on the wrist with breathing space if the wrist swells a bit.
I just got the confirmation that mine is in the
hands of UPS.
I am getting the steel bracelet version but on the first occasion when I'm visiting a country where Pateks are sold, I will buy also the tropical strap. Pictures will follow in due time.

Great Pics Picked up a Tiffany Edition today !!
Great pictures I've seen a lot of 5167a on this site as of late and I just had to have one. I walked into the Tiffany Patek store in New York over the weekend and fell in love all over again. Today I pulled the trigger. A great addition to my collection for sure. Here is a photo.

... the Aquanaut enjoys trips to the pub and it's fav tipple is Guinnees, although G&Ts, continental lager and fine wine also go down well!

I love my 5617 too. Practically as much as my Nautilus Chrono, which is a big compliment to the Aquanaut.
However, Kari, I bought it both with the metal bracelet and the rubber strap. I have to say I wore the bracelet less than a week, and when I tried the rubber strap I have never gone back!
The bracelet is in the safebox ever since.
I believe the tropic strap is the perfect match for the 5167...

I think the Aquanaut is often dismissed, but like many Pateks I think it is by people who haven't seen them close up and handled them. The Nautilus is another where dial only really comes to life when you view it dynamically, but even the simpler Calatrava and Officer-cased models look so much better in person.
The Aquanaut is a great allrounder. I does dress up surprisingly well, and looks great casually. Throw in the 100m WR and it is actually the perfect "holiday" watch for me.
