Genuine Patek?
I have just parted with hard earned cash for a vintage Patek Calatrava with paperwork from recent service, original box etc .
How can I find out if it is genuine?
I have a reference number (2557). Is the movement number exclusive to the specific watch or for a series of the same watch?

This is no problem at all, because we all started like this.
Questiones are welcome, but in the long term there should be a win-win for all of us.
Example: Can you imagine how annoying it is sometimes if you can see that there have been thousands of readers,
but only a few replies. A forum like this needs interactivity and passion, especially when you get everything for free.

genuine Calatrava?
No offence taken.
I bought my Panerai from an authorised dealer but this latest purchase has taken me out of my comfort zone. My instinct is that this is genuine but the fact that it is in such perfect condition for a 1950s watch makes me worry a little.
The watch comes from service so it
should look good! The buckle is of the modern type and it is not from the same period as the watch. But it looks like a Patek buckle so no problems there.

Anyhow, what he means is that the members contribute and in the end this is a discussion forum where we discuss and help each others. Furthermore, our Moderator is expecting that new members would at leas introduce themselves.
You Calatrava looks very good and in my eyes it looks also very real. However, go to a Patek Authorized Dealer and ask them to check the number of the movement and case against the Certificate of Origin.
Your pictures are a bit small but the watch looks good. I would without problems believe it's a real Patek if the numbers match.
