Patek Philippe

Hi all,.....I have a Patek Philippe 5107-J Calatrava that I wish to extract an "Extract from the Archives", as I can't seem to find the original certificate since we moved back in 2005.

 I may be selling this over the next several months is the reason I wish to get "some" paperwork on it,.... to alleviate any potential purchaser's question as to authenticity.

 I had assumed the movement number was likely to be the same as any case number (like on some vintage Patek's),  but I can't seem to find any case number showing from anywhere visible without opening the case.

However, I did see a copy of a Patek Philippe  "Extract from the Archives" on a current ebay offering of this model, and there IS definitely a spot shown on that document with a case number that is different from the movement number.

So just WHERE is the case number located on this model?  (and of course only accessible with back removal which is unnecessary and impractical imo! :-(

Well, concerning your question, the case number seems well hidden indeed.

I never heard about it and I guess you already looked between the lugs, otherwise it might indeed be inside the case...

I don't know where you are but if you can visit a Patek authorized dealer I'm sure he'll be able to help you the good way.

By the way, the movement number is based on a different sequence and is always different from the case's.

Thanks for the responses,......even though I was hoping there was "some" place on the outside or visible on the inside of the case through the saphire back that would allow seeing the case number required to get an Abstract from the Archives.  Geeze,.....I don't have a local PP dealer nearby (Albany, NY area) to correctly open the case to get the number. ( New York City and the hassles and cost to get there is the closest PP AD and about 190 miles each way)

And of course a non-AD is not likely to have the special rectangular lugged wrench necessary to remove the back without leaving marks I'd think.

The watch looks gorgeous and in very good shape.

As for you case number, it seems difficult indeed.

At least you can call them to be sure the number is inside.

Then, finding someone with the right tool is something of importance too...

On my 5146, the case number is stamped on the inside of the caseback/sapphire glass ring.  It's possibly the same with the 5107 and most other newer Pateks with sapphire backs.

Hi,...it looks to me as if your pic is showing the reverse side of the gold ring that holds the sapphire back crystal in place,.... is that correct?

If so that surprises me, because then the "case" number actually follows a removable ring. So I don;t think that's it......

I would have expected the case number to be maybe located on the case behind the top bezel support, and maybe that's what your picture is showing. Since the 5107 has the crown protecting lugs, this would have been more obvious on ":that" case reference.

......I suspect that's it,.....on lots of these newer models.
