Is this UN marine chronometer counterfeit?
hi all, first time posting.
Some time ago I was given this UN watch by a wealthy family friend as a gift. I never really thought much of it as I was pretty young at the time and didn't have much interest in watches untill recently.
A little while ago I cracked the read viewing crystal on the back and the mechanism stopped working. In my research into getting it repaired I've begun to question whether or not it's even real.. the weight seems fine to me, as does the dial and band, but the movement doesn't seem to match based on other online images. It also says marine chronograph on the back and the ref. Number seems incorrect. Is it possible this has been cobbled together from various UN parts?
I'm not too bothered as I didn't spend any of my own money on it, but can anyone tell me for certain if it is fake, and how you know?
I'm going with fake on this one. Poor dial quality and details. Movement appears incorrect. Other elements not consistent with real UNs. [nt]

Thanks for the reply! I won't bother getting it repaired then, glad I didn't spend anything on it. Think it's worth anything as parts or should I just chuck it?
Yep. Movement and rotor are definitely not genuine, even though the OEM movement is ‘just’ an ETA.
Dial too, as mentioned above – I don’t think UN have ever done a purple dial, not even as a Ltd Edition.

The lume dots doesn't even align to the Roman numerals 😂
This is one reason why I pass UN watches models like this, no matter how nice or limited they are....just me.

Daft logic, IMO – just buy from trusted sources or with recourse to refund if all isn’t as it should be.
No need to cut off your nose to spite your face, and it’s not like APs, Hublots, Rolex, and many others aren’t faked either – so your same logic should also apply there too.
In fact, I don't have APs too...
I do have a Hublot and some Rolexes.
Prior to 2015, I have only a Rolex Prince, why? Because it's not common.
I did still apply the same logic.
Now, I have these Rolexes which is a little different from Subs or SDs...

Just looked more! It says chronograph on the back! That style also doesn't have a rotating bessle. Man that's a really bad fake. Who is selling this?

Just looked one more time! Back of the case says 3/119 or whatever and the serial plate is some random Number. I had the hammerhead. UN either has a number like 4782 or if it's limited they say 100/1000 on the plate.
At first, I was astonished at the level of details reproduced by the counterfeiters ...
... since I was not even aware of this model having been faked. Every typical detail of the Marine Chronometer is there, but always in rougher execution: dial print, coin edge bezel, loupe above the date window, power reserve hand, plate with serial no., engraving on the titanium rubber strap link, etc. But then, there are completely silly mistakes like the "Chronograph" text on the caseback that completely ruins the effort.

Is this UN original or fake? My first UN watch purchase if proven original
Hi everyone,
Real newbie here looking to buy my first UN watch but concerned that it could be a fake. Plus the seller is very new in my country so not much that I can go about based on feedback from this store.
These are all the pictures I have at the time but have requested more.
Any advise you can provide will be appreciated.
