Who is the author of painting?
A great Vacheron Constantin pocket watch will appear on auction this month. The miniature enamel work is a masterpiece by Charles Poluzzi and its extremely rare.

According to my research, the original painting is by PIETER CORNELISZ. VAN SLINGELANDT (1640-1691)
And the title is Eine nähende Mutter mit ihrem Kind, um 1670 (A mother sewing with her child, around 1670)

Pulozzi is the enameler, but I see no connection between his enamel painting on that pocket watch and Vermeer's "Lacemaker".
The resemblance with Pieter Cornelisz's painting seems much more obvious, don't you think?

This video proves that he indeed created miniature enamel painting on the theme of Vermeer. But it is clearly not on this pocket watch in Sothebys.
