I'm ok with polishing if it is done by the manufacturer itself and not some self-styled "watchmaker" working out of a pawn shop.

If the watch has the history of a Paul Newman Daytona, for example, I realize that unpolished is the way to go. But in this case, restoring the case to "as new" seemed like a better course of action. Thanks for commenting.
