Garrick S4: My first English watch, and a sentimental one.
I've always wanted a British watch, as both my sons were born in the UK during my five years of study in the country. Precious times with beloved ones. So much fond memories there that we call Britain our second home.

Under natural light
All the markers and indices were first cut and then inked by hand with a small syringe.
Roger Smith is kinda out of my reach, but fortunately there are more affordable choices offered by Garrick, a workshop based in Norwich, Norfolk.
If one wants to nitpick, the movement is not an in-house one. It's a UNITAS 6498. But that doesn't bother me at all. The movement is redecorated and reassembled by the British watchmakers, with a beautiful engraving pattern inspired by vintage English pocket watches. Most components of Garrick's watches are either made in their workshop or have the material/parts sourced in the UK. Garrick have a clear vision of making their watches as British as possible, and I applaud them for their effort.
It's true that I'm not a British. Yet I still want to say: "I'm proud to be British in a different sense."
The dial colour of my piece is called "plum", same as the GPGH finalist one. But I opted a different type of guilloche for the sub-dial.

Not at all! I ordered a very stripped down S2.
One of the things that drew me to Garrick is all the metal work they do by hand. No laquer, no stamping, everything is milled, drilled, plated, polished or blued.

Can't wait but it'll be many months more of waiting. You're lucky to have ordered when you did! I think they discontinued the S4 because they were so much work they never made any money on them :P
That engraving on the back looks absolutely amazing!
Perhaps even better than the engraving on an RWS? Very well done and an attractive design!
