I think it is this kind of watch you need to see in the flesh to be impressed. It reminds me the first time I put on a MB&F with the spectacular domed glass and floating balance cock, unforgettable moment,
but I was not as much impressed by the pictures.

Yes, very thick and opposed to RM where the back is curved, here is straight therefore hard to fit it properly on the wrist. The clasp was also very big and bulky…
I think this latest smaller S2 has improved the ergos over the original S1 and I really like this latest version but yeah, it's still a thick boy
Despite the shrinking dimensions it's still thick and still fits a little square on the wrist. I think it's less the flat back, though a curve would help, but more the way the straps attach - they basically flare straight out and then come straight down. It's not an issue for larger wrists and it actually isn't that bad I think it's just the dramatically curved top and integrated strap aesthetic sets expectations for a more form fit around the wrist. Looks amazing in person but I too am not sold yet on the fit.

How do you feel about the quality?
In my post a while back you did a great job of highlighting some places they seemingly cut back on quality wise. Do you feel the same after seeing it in person? Like you, I love it a lot, but the pricing is pretty outrageous relative to the competition.
At this point I'm numb to prices, rarity, engineering or comparing new GF to old GF, just looking at these as toys to enjoy.
Now when I look at these, my watch nerd brain turns off and the primitive lizard brain runs the show, and I like them! 
The smaller version is flashier with the additional layer of exposed gears while the more cohesive joining of the flat and angled part of the dials makes the whole watch feel more refined and more luxurious / less industrial which the lizard brain likes. With the new carbon and sapphire case convexes GF is an RM alt and from that perspective these are super cool and maybe even a great value, GF level finishing with RM style.

Maybe that's all watches.... maybe I'm getting old....

I think next time I have a dumb exit I might buy one lol. With that said, I think the lack of frosting on the entry level ones is a bit of a slap to the face. I’d love the gmt version but the price is pretty wild.
