I have been thinking of changing my Simplicity.....
from 37mm to 34mm case size. The version I chose was the WG with Guilloche dial.I started to fall in love with the inner rail rather than the outer rail. The oversize crown also make it more interesting.I kinda think that the outer rail looks better with the 'enamel-look a like' dial.This is just pure asethetics decision.Just curious if any Simplicity owners here feel likewise. I know the 37mm version is more popular due to the bigger size.I have small wrist so both 34mm and 37mm will fit me perfect. Just want to pick a nicer dial out the 2.Any comments?Lovesss*CL

I agree with your perception.
I think the smaller version is aesthetically more balanced to my eye.
Also, since I do wear and maintain some small watches, I find that there is a possibility that the awareness of the small sized watch for gentlemen may return, even within a decade. It is something like shoes with laces...there was a time in the 70s to 80s when it sort of almost dissappeared from the mainstream...and then.

I think watches size should be considered in relation to one's physique, and to a lesser extent one's attire. For most 37mm watches work very well, a 34mm watch would look awkward on the average wrist. That being said, a 34mm dress watch is more formal and elegant, and fits in if you're wearing a dinner jacket but of course a 37mm Simplicity would do just as well.
As for the watches themselves, I personally prefer the look of the faux enamel dial, but the fact that it's lacquered bothers me. A lacquered enamel dial seems out of place on such a finely finished, no compromise watch. Nonetheless I like the look as one hardly sees watches like that nowadays, on the other hand the guilloche dial, though handsome, is a widely used design.
In short, I'd get the 37mm with 'enamel' dial, just like the one you saw in Singapore.

Good post as so many people nowadays seem drawn to the larger size it is a pleasure to see another collector actually consider a smaller size. I have small wrists and have watches ranging from 35 to 44 and wear them all with equal pleasure. I agree that you should choose one or another depending on what you are wearing. For instance if I am in a T shirt then a smaller 35 or 37 is ideal, but if I have a long sleeve on then I will wear my large 44 IWC Port. This larger watch 'fad' is just that and we all know what we will be continuing to wear in 10 years or so. I imagine that my larger IWC will very little wear in my fifties and I shall start to migrate back to my PP 5050 or even the Daniels, which is only a 36. By the way, Roger Smith certainly is playing with current trends as his series 2 is a much larger watch than the Daniels and although they are similar is finish and style, present a completely different perspective on my wrist.
Journe offers 38 or 40 in most of his collection and I am happy to report that, at least in the UK, the 38 in plat is pushed forward as the true collectors watch, the 40 is again a style statement, nothing more.
Buy what you immediately like and never part as it will be a wonderful addition to any collection, the face is so nice that whether it is 30mm or 40mm it would not come off my wrist for some weeks after purchase, and that would be a record!

in a backward way...LOLI first like watches that are at least 40mm. So I get watches between 40-42mm andthinking 43mm.Then I start to fiddle with 39mm and 38mm.Eventually, I decided it has to be 37mm or below.I like small watch nowsaday as I don't feel the watch is wearing me.It looks very elegant and charming too.Both 37mm and 34mm Simplicity fits me perfectly as I have tried both while in Tokyo.What draws me is the subtle design difference between the both model, the position of the rail.I first was drawn to Dufour because of the picture of a 34mm Simplicity. Such Sublime Piece.I didn't kow it was 34mm then and have always mistook that the 37mm is the same until looking at SteveG picture.Being very particular about design and constantly buying watches simply base on its dial design, I thought something is not quite right as I start to like the laquered enamel dial more than the guilloche version. This was not my first impression.Only then, I realise there's a subtle difference between the 34mm and 37mm guilloched Simplicity.It is the balance of the 34mmm dial that draws me to it. The 37mm version is not my first love. I have love the wrong watch...LOLI have asked Mrs Dufour if I can still change my order and hopefully the answer is a YES If it is a NO, it will be simply just fate and I will happily accet it. I had the same problem
I first chose the 37mm and i ended up with a 34mm.
I find the 34mm much more elegant, the big crown gives a vintage look and don't forget that 34mm is the original size of the Simplicity.

The 37mm would also be fine (my others watches are between 36mm and 40.5mm) but the 34mm fits better.
The Simplicity has a classic design and 34mm is more classical.
The movement is made for the 34mm, just look at the width of the back bezel on the 37mm version, i find it too large.

Does anyone have side-by-sides of the 34 and 37mm watches? Would be interesting to compare (I have 37mm 'enamel' on order...)
