When I first held this "watch" 3 years old, my 1st impression was a mixture of awe and yucks It had been a while since I had such a reaction.  After a long time of thinking beyond the brand, about the maker / artist behind it,  (I couldnt get it off my mind - if you know what i mean) I pulled the trigger and my dream finally came true a few days ago.  This is an truly an over-labored and excessively  detailed piece of mechanical horological feat of engineering - 99% manufactured in VH's shop. 

More art than watch.  It should one day belong in a museum along with the likes of UN Freak, Antiqua, OPUS 3, Dufour etc

I got a chance to handle this beastie and try it on, and it fascinated me.   I think we're not used to a watch being anything other than super-smooth and highly polished, so somehting textured and tactile is a revelation.   Thre's a play of light that brings it to life.

This is going to sound daft, and I'm not insulting Vianney, but I feel the same about the glass-bead-blasted Seiko diver mods.  Some of the textures really add something, and adding something like a satin bezel and a polished chapter ring give a range of textures and different qualities of reflection.

I do think ristwatches should become more tactile than they currently are.

I think I'd rather walk around with a carriage clock on my wrist than wear this! I dare say it is an expensive beastie, or am I mistaken.  Maybe, with the right button, it will beam you up.

I felt the same about most of Vianney's watches from looking at photos.  Then I got an opportunity to try them on and handle them, and in reality they're totally different to ow they appear in the images (if that makes sense).  In real life they're actually almost discrete (far more discrete than many other watches eg the B&R BR01 etc). 

If I had the cash I'd have no hesitation in getting a Goldpfeil or a Contemporaine.

For what it is, you can get it at about 1/3 to 1/4 the price of URWERK 103.08.
Movement totally from Viannrey (IIRC) and the case work is OMG.
Truly a keeper if you are a fan of 'strange' watches.
I love this watch and I wish it was a manual wind. What a lovely crown!!!

imo - i think the amount of labor that has gone into this far exceeds that of many watches of similar price range - it's like I can't believe it's so under valued and under appreciated

from another perspective, this watch really really tickles the senses - touch (so many types of surfaces, "sharpness" of the crown, heft of the watch), sight and even sound (when turning the crown)

does anyone know how many hours is spent on making this watch ?

your thoughts This piece certainly has the power to evoke strong love hate emotions!!  There are so many facets to this watch that I keep discovering over time
