I was considering a VC Historiques Americaine 1921 at the AD last week but was immediately attracted by another piece on display. A couple of features were particularly appealing:

 

- The simplistic design

- The center second hand

- Hand wound movement

- 7+ day power reserve

- The substantial feeling on the wrist

 

Needless to say, I ended up buying this piece instead. The Monard is definitely a dressy watch, fit for a black-tie function. Here are some pictures:

 

And here's the movement. Notice the power reserve display on this side.

 

These are the specifications:

- Ref: 343.505.05

- Hand wound with true bevel wheels

- Dual barrel

- Moser tooth system in wheel train & pinions

- Stop seconds function

- Sapphire glass

 

Who knows....maybe one day I will trade up to the Perpetual that eveybody talks about but can hardly lay hands on...

Very classic, elegant and simple watch with great movement. That's Moser watches.hehehe... Mr. Andreas Strehler, the man who created Opus 7, designed some Moser movements, so without a doubt the movements are great and reliable. Moser is under-rated now, hopefully people will know more about this brand and in the future Moser can be a top established brand. GREAT GREAT watch.. Thanks for sharing

Congratulations! on your acquisition of the Monard.
It is an elegant piece and a perfect dress watch.
The greyish dial is subtle and goes very nicely with the black strap.
I also like it in platinium and as you said - it feels substantial on the wrist.
I am biased as I have a Mayu in Plat.

Lately, I too have been looking at the VC Historiques Americaine 1921.
I like the retro design and it sure looks different from the others, however I was told it will be pricey.
Have not been to the AD lately to update on this piece, perhaps it is time to do so.

Maybe if you could PM me which AD in HK did you saw the Historiques?
I would sure like to take a look at the piece in real and appreciate whether it is value of money.

That is a truly handsome dial and movement. I am a big fan of Moser and count the Mayu among my favorites.

I like how the Monard marries elegance and substance into one breathtaking design.  Moser's leaf hands are gorgeous -- the shape of the hour hand is particularly sensual.  I'd love to pick up a palladium Mayu someday, but I agree with you that their Perpetual is also a killer timepiece.

The ruthenium dial and the platinum case + a nice level of finish on the movement=a super alternative to the Classic competitors we use to speak about.
