This summer I had gone to pick up the vers first Moonshine Sarpaneva had made, a very audacious watch in the siganture Korona case with  Sarpaneva's signature moon face taking center stage. Time being read via a wandering hours disc at the bottom part of the dial, the moonphase indicator being ingeniously placed on luminous material behind the hour disc!

Stepan is finally officially launching this amazingly original in steel or rose gold with a silver oxydized or RG moon face.

I'll confess that I've been looking at the Moonshine for the past few weeks and considering it, but, over that time, it just hasn't grown on me. I, for one, haven't come to appreciate it beyond a sense of "interesting, original and sculptural but not what I want on my wrist." (Heck, I'm not even sure if I could, with my eyes, read the time.) I guess that's why I've just ordered a K3 Harvest Moon instead -- it has the enigmatic moon, presents the contrast of red and black, has Sarpaneva's wonderful grail design, and is, without doubt, a watch. Technical perhaps with a serious (dare I say Finnish or sullen sensibility) but altogether a watch. Maybe I'm not hip enough for a Moonshine jewelry on my wrist but I'll just happily wait for one of Stepan's watches that actually have hands! But the wait won't be easy.... There is no doubt that the Moonshine shows a free spirit and it is a watch unlike, so far as I know, any in the world (and the lume is pretty neat)!

In fact I decided to put mine on right now.

I am sure that you will have no difficulty reading the time off it or becoming distracted by the design - fascinated, yes.

Perhaps they are still harvesting in my part of the world - Grünkohl or green cabbage. This only tastes right when it is harvested and cooked after the second frost. Now it's all frost here!

There are two traditional ways of preparing it with other hearty ingredients, often followed by a powerful Schnaps, then a long walk around the snowy countryside. There is a site with 226 recepies for it - all in German.

As for what I call the All Moon, it is a terrific even a fearsome design! Stepan has ideas about using colors to improve the readability.

I decided to pass this one up, thanks to a couple of his others coming my way.

Your recipe for a cold day sounds wonderful. It may be getting towards spring before mine arrives but I'll enjoy it all the same.
