Hi All,
Sorry this is not an update to tell you that I have received my watch. I sent an email to Volker and received a reply from Micahel who is Volker's brother. Michael has taken over the communication. He mentioned that:
"he is making good progress but to be honest it is taking longer than expected.......... Volker had to rebuild the bridges and is int he final stages of doing this. Assembly of watches will follow."
He thanked me for my patience. (Alex any comments here? hhahahahahaaa!!!)
I think only those who ordered the watch can really undertand what patience means!
Happy Watching!

Volker also planted and grew the trees from which he will craft the box?
After all, straps must be made! If I recall properly, the straps are also supposed to be lined in natural rubber, so there's the rubber tree plantation to be cultivated as well.
All joking aside, these watches are going to make for the greatest watch dinner story-telling of all time (yes, I still have hope!).
On a factual level, I was a bit surprised to read some long-misplaced info from Volker saying that he had actually hired a local woman to do the woodworking for the boxes (this was a posting from several years ago). He did make all of the hardware (hinges, latches, etc.) for the boxes himself, however...
Best,
Gary G
I have also corresponded with Michael Vyskocil over the past week, and he was kind enough to provide the following photos, taken in late May and early June of this year (yes, I checked the image metadata):

I know that many of us have been waiting for a while now (some even longer than others -- you know who you are!) and that several promised delivery dates have been missed, but it is good to see some views of the current state of the work in progress.
Will keep you informed as I learn more.
Best,
Gary G
Hi Gary
I received the same photos and a few more that I am sure you did not post here. If not let me know and I will fwd to you.
Alex, I think I see your bridge sitting there. I can see your name engraved on it, along with a date.... is that your order date? 1873?
Happy Watching!

promised date of delivery
I'm like Saint Thomas I will believe only when I see...
What next -- Saint Judas?
Best,
Gary
I was put on a wait list way back when. Not sure if I moved into the order pile as folks dropped out. Or, maybe I'm still on the wait list. Or, VV may have no record of me whatsoever.
In any event, I do look forward to seeing this one when completed.
Darren
As long as Volker is still alive and he has not abandoned the project, there is still hope.
Perhaps, Volker will give a big surprise to the owners upon delivery.
Happy waiting!
Regards
Ling
