At least it did for me. I put up a WTB ad for a Simplicity and within several weeks was contacted by two potential sellers, including a friend and someone I hadn't met previously. The friend ultimately decided to keep his, but I was successful in striking a deal with the second gentleman.
I think that it helped me that I am a "known guy" here, and was viewed as someone with a lot of passion who would provide a good home. Bottom line for me is that getting out on the network and checking around often works. Auction pieces are quite rare, but it does happen from time to time -- be prepared to pay...
As for Mr. Dufour, he can sell anything he can make. My understanding is that he has a waiting list of over 50 for the Duality, a watch that he has stopped making. And , he told me last month that he still receives 4 to 6 firm requests per week to order Simplicities, but that series is done as well.
As for the "next watch," my understanding is that there is a long line of prior customers trying to queue up and a priority list already set out by PD.
When we visited a year ago he did have Simplicity 201 on offer via the original owner, but that was a unique circumstance (the pink diamond jewelry piece).
Happy hunting!
Best,
