More DE BETHUNE from Geneva..
The two main novelties have been introduced already but here are a few shots I took in Geneva....
The microlight decorations of the bridges and the stunning hands make the DB28GS such a fascinating sport watch.I really like it,actually I am totally seduced and....tempted.
It is true that one would assume that a zodiac dial would ave some sort of indication,but its not necessarily true here,the zodiac signs as a decorative element of the dial make perfect sense and do not make me regret further complications on a very complicated watch already.

A beautiful watch.....I am seriously in danger with this one......hard to resist such a beauty.
The sporty approach of the new DB28GS is really captivating.
Waterproof for 100 mt,brushed and polished titanium case with integrated rubber strap(a beautiful work in itself)

Second strong novelty is more an adaptation of an existing model,the DB25T with dead second mechanism and De Bethune Tourbillon.
This new dial has to be seen in the flesh to understand its beauty and sophistication.

The idea of an indicator was in the plans though,I had confirmation of that,but still that would have meant losing the deadbeat second.....which I am not sure of.
I took the chance to shoot some last years novelty that really stand out and show De Bethune mastery at its best.....

Well, as usual, you delivered fantastic pictures of the DBs.
I loved the DB25T, I really like this one and especially the way we have the Roman numerals on a plane disk with a guilloché center. The zodiac work must indeed be seen in the metal I guess to give its full meaning.
I always liked this watch and I prefer the dead second mechanism to the Zodiac indicator. Thanks for reporting on that matter. I guess I would have seen such a display on a much simpler DB25 as they did for the Mayan for instance.
For the first time since very long there is a DB I don't like (at least "it doesn't speak to me"): as I didn't like the DB22, I don't like the 28 GS. It is just a question of very personnal taste of course.
The Ti DB28 Maxichrono must be very interesting in that lightweight version.
I love the DB29 Maxichrono too, the movement looks absolutely gorgeous and very unique in this outfit.
One watch that I would like to get from the collection and I didn't expect to see pictures of this year is the White night with enamel dial.
I asked Katidja if it could be done in WG and it is something I would really love. Thanks for adding these pics and if you have some more of the enamel one I would love to see (and DL) them! :p
I have a question for you, did they tell you if they were going to rise their prices after the CHF increase?

Hey Mark, well....
there is a white gold case db 25 enamel with RG crown and rg pin on white buckle. It was a special order from italy... A really stunning creation...
I think the prices stay exactly the same... I mean in chf therefore a bit more expensive than a few days ago!!!
This enamel beauty is really getting me a lot.. Even because it's a de Bethune way of enamelling.... Of course.

More on DB, coming from you
I expected something special and you have exceeded my expectation. Always a delight to read your posts.
I am completely blown away by the chronometer. Blown away. A mastery interpretation of nice, rare and old complication. Ah the beauty of those old multicenterchronos and 13ZN12! I love the way the back opens on this watch, not just like an old pocket watch but like the bonnet of a powerful sports car. Very appropriate... The movement seems to be to die for. Here again, DB does not ape but goes solo, like a virtuoso. And frankly nobody can follow them in that kind of repertoire. That's DB for you. Pure originality, idiosyncrasy.
DB being DB they do not rest on their laurels and keep pushing the barrier of technology and esthetics. Each watch might not be everyone's cup of tea but they never cease to surprise across the whole range of the watch they have on offer.
I wouldn't seek to own it, but I know for having admired in the metal the Maya watch for instance, yes I know that the Zodiac watch far exceeds in reality the already fabulous way it looks on your pictures. There is so much that meets the eye there. I remember having taken a loupe to admire the work of the Maya, I fell this one is even better...
The "enamelled" dialed time-only is at the other hand of the spectrum, yet it works fantastically well. As you say made for a prince. Still for a prince like you I would expect a real enamel dial.

Nobody does what De Bethune does,I agree..
I still wonder how the whole watch world somehow underestimate this brand in favour of pure marketing product based on very little genius.
It is unique in modern watchmaking what De Bethune achieved in 10 11 years of existence,their collection is arguably amongst the richest ever seen,not only in number of creations but in the PERSONALITY each watch owns.
Every creation is so different from the next one but at the same time with a leitmotif that guide you through the mind boggling repertoire.
That is what s stunning about De Bethune,the versatility,genius,invention,confidence that is borderline with arrogance but they can afford it because it is at the same time classic and in the respect of the history of houte horologerie.
I can calmly state that I could see myself only collecting DB watches because there is everything I want in a watch or in a collection.....
The Maxichrono Tourbillon is a work of marvel...I truly haven't seen anything going close to it ,classic,yet modern,every aspect is well executed:proportions,shapes,architecture......Wait thigh...there will be surprises..
You will be surprised by what they are planning to release....
De Bethune is a universal patrimony that need to be preserved...

DB is imho the best example of what haute horloger is should be. Inventive, different, arrogant. I agree with what you about those brands that are somehow captive of their past and keep developing those same lines of products without much flair or gusto. The same old winning formula, not much risk taking. All very civilised but quite boring. I won't give any names. It does not apply to all to the same extent, mind you.
No, DB has as you so rightly write produced an amazing variety of watches, with creativity on the dial (and hands) in the cases and with their watches movements. They have written their own history, riding in no one else's tracks but their own.

The first one is a beautiful sports watch, very nice version, the second one, is not my kind but there is a true work behind.
The last one... well if you can get it, there is no reaons not to get it. It's one of the most beautiful offer from the entire market, (love the DW5 too). And it is objectively beautiful, proportion of the case, it's style, the dial obviously, it's delicate with these cabochons index, the blue and white enamel, how De Bethune is written.
How classy is that? I do not see anything who can compare in term of simple hour minute watch. It's amazing, it's so pure, it works so well. Get it

Decision to buy even most tempting piece from Independent watch maker is normally a bit tough but informative article as well as discussions over PuristSPro by passionate people made the job easy for me. Would like to thank Mo for his first post in Apr 04 " Beautiful "grand feu" Enamel dials offerings..........quite unexpected from De Bethune but the outcome is very very charming " caught my eyes and was further firmed by another post by Mark in July 04 " A picture from De Bethune ".
Last year my AD received one piece and was picked up by another Purist. Two weeks ago received welcome call and picture of actual watch from Ad which ended my wait at right time just before the unexpected surge of CHF. Thanks to all.

Well,the characteristics of this material are far superior than what you can achieve with enamel this days.
As you know,some materials used in the past to produce enamel are forbidden today with the result of a poorer product.
De Bethune ,being the brand it is,researched a way to obtain a material identical in terms of uniformity and transparence to the old enamel dial.
The process is not a "gran feu" technique though.....its ...a secret....

So different watches - yet all are so 'de Bethune'!
quite a feat to make an ultra-modern looking DB28GS, a 'renaissance' DB25T Zodiak and a mystic DB25 White Night look like they all belong to one and the same family.
I envy you (more than) a bit for having the change to try them all. What are your impressions on the wrist?

The Gs has a deep case so the watch sits on top of the wrist and raises up from the floating lugs,it is a watch with presence and character ...like a diver sports watch should be.
The Zodiac has the same feeling of a regular DB25L so quite comfortable.
The white night has a much slimmer case than the regular DB25L keeping though the same diameter of 44mm.
Its slender case makes it look smaller,more discreet and on the wrist its like a feather...beautiful.
