I have two Apple Watch Series 0 (from original release) and the current Series 4. Love ‘em for their functionality — instant weather reports, text messages and quick emails, brief phone calls, tracking exercise, conveniently paying at supermarkets and drugstores, airline check-in and boarding, setting timers and alerts, etc, Don’t like ‘em for their physical design which I find too IkePod. Their ease of changing and fitting straps is brilliant and addictive. The health related features of the Series 4 — EKG readouts, detection of high heartbeat rates, and fall detection with automatic notification being sent to local emergency services if I am immobile for 30 seconds after a perceived fall — are very important, now that I’ve reached my dotage.
My mechanical watches now get worn at most 10% of the time, usually for dressy or special occasions, and even then I invariably miss the utility of the Apple Watch.
Although I much prefer seeing a Reverso or the Patrimony when I glance at my wrist for telling time, they are not as useful to me.
