Comparing the finish on 4 different mid tier watches
A quick exercise I did for fun and to share on a WhatsApp group, sharing here just for the sake of it
So the compared watches:
Grand Seiko GMT
Omega Seamster Planet Ocean
Breitling Premier
Rolex Pepsi.
The objective is to identify which watch had the best finish, took some macros of brushed portions and other factors. Most notably took some pics while trying to reflect a thumbs up and a pen on each.
The GS was the best by far, the Rolex was abysmal. Take from this what you will.
There are many other factors to consider, the Rolex has the best movement and finest bezel for example. This is just to compare case finishing.

So I posted individual replies for each watch
So you can try and see my thumbs up and pen reflection for each watch, this is to judge the quality of the polished portions. I have also included the brushed strokes macros for the two watches that have brushed portions
It's quite surprising.
My Tudor Black Bay's sides are (well, they were!) like perfect mirrors!!!
I agree; I have never thought much of Rolex case finishing:
the rotating bezel is way too sharp on the edges. Omega does it well.

Notable other factors
Regarding the four watches I compared, here are a few other noteworthy points I noticed.
First, regarding the Rolex, the bezel is by far the best I have ever seen. The color, depth, clarity is only made better by the luxurious touch of including platinum. Superb bezel!
The Rolex also has the highest quality dial, the deep deep black looks perfect, not too shiny and not too dull, just perfect. These two points counteract the crappy cola can case finishing.
Other factors such as the worlds most reliable movement, superior stainless steel, and iconic design make for an iconic watch.
The Breitling has what I believe to be the best bracelet in the sub 80k world, just marvelous design comfort and finishing
