This year, I went to meet Herr Miki Eleta at his workshop in Switzerland. I was very impressed. He has a super impressive clock entered in the show which is even more impressive in person! This year is a special year, it is the first year there is a "Mechanical Clock" category. Keeping in mind, Eleta is arguably the artist the whole category is attributed to (in the 2021 edition of GPHG, he entered Svemir - but there wasn't a Mechanical Clock category then - under the "Mechanical Exceptions" category).

Eleta makes everything by hand using saws, files, drills. No CNC machines. No computer-guided tools. Wow!

The entire clock is sketched on paper. No computer aided design (CAD) nor computer modeling.

Eleta, who is about seventy, has only produced about 40 clocks in his entire career! Picasso supposedly has made 30,000! Photo Credit for all three photos: Miki Eleta website
So... What are some of your favorite watches from this year's 2022 GPHG? Any favorites? Any particular piece you hope will win a specific category or the grand prize?
