I think the design never got the recognition it deserved. I’m not a fan of the new iteration as it tries to do to much but the original has a cohesion that I’m drawn to. HAGWE everyone
Literally spent this morning looking at them second hand - either this version or the blue dial.

The price is great but the thickness and the (almost complete lack of) finishing stops me - I know this is a 90s design, with GRL at the peak of his powers, but still….. Can’t quite bring myself to do it.Do you wear it a lot? How do you find it?
(Also not a fan of most of the current line-up, including “vampire” and other takes on this…..)
I do wear it a lot (keeping in mind I have a good sized collection). I never felt it to wear large. It’s neither thick nor thin. It’s a very accurate machine. I prefer the two tone as I think it highlights the double coin edge work. I like that it’s brushed as it won’t show scratches or smears like mirrored finished (which personally bother me). I wish it had a hacking seconds function and I’m not sure technically why this was not done (I recall the founder was a German engineer so the MUST be a reason 😂). I also wish he had not chosen a 24 hour format because the larger 1-9 are so wonderful and you seldom get the chance to experience them. The proportions are great all around. I would have chosen a different crown design but that’s nitpicking and it never bothered me. I can’t emphasize enough how great the hands on this watch are. Nothing in this design is adhoc or forced. Overall it is extremely well made and a ridiculous value. And bonus, it works both casually or formally and it’s unique as well. I have heard people say that the movement is fragile and I have not found this to be the case and my master watch repairman (he services Journe and other complicated watches) concurs. You will not be disappointed. There are other metal and dial color choices ( I’ve seen black and blue dials come up for sale from time to time but I prefer mine). Overall I’m happy I bought it and wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend one to anyone interested.
And I’m glad I could give you a clearer picture. I really would go for a two tone over solid steel or gold. It really does add to the overall aesthetics (coming from someone who generally doesn’t like two tone)
To be honest, this is fighting it out for a spot with a Genta Retro MoP dial at some point, for broadly similar money (I quite want one Genta piece and don’t love the designs for the big houses he did - except maybe the Polerouter or the Pasha - but neither is massively my style). That would mean going even smaller (which I’m fine with) and I do like the guilloché MoP dials…..
Am still kicking myself for not keeping bidding on the gold Pink Panther watch in the spring auctions too
